all you need is a tune to run full e85. any amount of ethanol can be accounted for in a tune.
our stock fuel system can support the most power on a mix, usually around e50. as you add or reduce ethanol from that point, your tune should be dialed in for less power to keep things safe. less...
that'll be my next step moving forward. i'm really just getting situated with the car, then will get into logging and data collection over the coming weeks.
X7 is also 03/20 production, but 2 port TU. temps are dropping quick and it lives outside the garage, so we'll see how things go.
i'm not sure either. we have at least identified the issue, but failures seem to be sporadic. after every video i make, someone messages me saying their car has a million miles with no issues, the problem is blown out of proportion, etc.
i think at this point, realistically we're all doing the...
The DME tune took millions of dollars to develop. It is BMW's IP. The DME is encrypted just like most other software to protect their investment.
They don't care about tuning. They're not on the hook for what you do to modify your car after purchase. Stuff like dieselgate was because the OEM...
this or just check the coolant levels in the small reservoir. if it's low or empty then the a/c will blow warm. it's common to have leaks if the heat exchanger at the front of the car gets punctured by a rock or something.
full e85 can support around 550-600whp.
ethanol mix (e30-e50) can support around 650-700whp.
depends on AFRs as well. some tuners are more comfortable leaning out a bit on ethanol since it burns cooler.
really. normally this only happens for the first year or two when everyone says just take your car to a dealer or shop when people want to do their own work. the platform is going on 5 years old. crazy a DIY question is geting this much kickback.
and, newsflash: insurance is throwing money...
yeah i can see that happening. it's like they're trying to create increased demand from the slower production. we don't have a lot around here anyway so they may not be motivated to sell/get a lot of allocations to begin with.
when i get mine, i'll say the same thing.
i haven't ordered one yet. haven't even seriously inquired at a dealer.
but i know how long i've been thinking about it. and it's the thought that matters, right?
Just bumping this because, like clockwork, trackdaytire is having a buy 3 get 1 free sale. use code "july4" and with the sizes you listed they take off almost $350. Like people said, they aren't the absolute stickiest tire out there but they work great on track, last long, and that deal they...
Pro Tip: If you decide to get ECF, get them from trackdaytire.com. They have a Buy 3 get 1 free sale pretty frequently. Just sign up for their email list and wait for the next sale. There may be one this week/weekend for July 4th.
They're amazing for daily use. It's basically an autox/time attack tire so it warms up fast and is about as sticky as a summer tire gets.
The only downside is the new tread pattern isn't as good in the rain as the original RE71R. They aren't that bad when new but as they wear down it can get...
I see you're in california. I'm assuming you only have 91octane fuel, and it's known that Cali 91 is worse than most. The numbers on dynojets don't vary that much in my experience other than potential elevation changes/compensation. My bet is your bad fuel quality is why you have low numbers.
I...
