Just a quick follow-up. I went to Laguna Seca this past Friday with A052s - factory sizes on factory rims. -2.5/-2.1 camber f/r. It was a wet morning and dry afternoon. Really good grip in both situations and the wear was actually fine. I settled around 38PSI hot front and 35psi hot rear. I have...
Definitely get out there - tons of fun and always something to learn. Based on the lower temps (air and track) all day long, the tires still impressed me, but I'd say it takes at least the out lap to get heat in them. Lap 3 (incl. out lap) is the one to get after.
Good luck with your track FD!!
First wet track day in the books! I am not eager to do it again but found it a valuable experience.
I made a last minute decision to change my Yokohama Apex V601 tires out for a set of Yokohama Advan A052 (factory sizing), because my rears were between 1/32" to 3/32" and I knew it would be a wet...
Thanks - dang should have specified camber too. Roughly judging if my -2.5F/-2.1R camber will be ok to push or if i need to keep a closer eye on the wear.
The rear is adjustable from the factory (not a lot but enough to correct lowering springs).
Front requires camber plate or lower control arms (you don't need both but you could if you're into that).
I'm one of the few who run CSG CP pads front/rear and keep them in the car between autox, HPDE, and regular driving. I've found their temp limits at Laguna Seca but that's to be expected from street/track pad - though they never did fade or let me down - a bit of smearing began to occur as I...
PS4S performs poorly as a hot-lapping tire. Its fine for one hot lap and a series of cruisers, but the compound likes to chunk (quite severely at times) when you've reached whatever that heat threshold is. Camber helps but the BMW Spec PSS's (factory) are a bit more resilient than the generic...
Not for me it did not. It might have gotten 'better' but upon pulling out of the dealership I immediately couldn't clearly see my reverse camera. Had to code it back. Which does suck for night-time drives but lucky for me, I mostly drive during the day.
Yesterday wraps up 3 events I've attended using the Yokohama Apex V601 tires and they're still holding up.
If you're interested in reading here are the threads for Laguna and Sonoma HPDE days.
I don't drive my Supra on the street much and have put ~2,000 street miles on the tires but I tend...
In-cabin is the standard gopro suction mount with their longer arm - mounted to the hatch glass up near the third brake light. It's a Hero 7 Black recording in Linear.
On my helmet is an old knockoff action cam (Fitfort brand), stuck onto my helmet with two of the standard gopro type pivot...
Thanks Tom - first and foremost I want to call out my appreciation for the responsiveness of the Apex team thus far in the process. Things happen, especially on a somewhat new platform.
What sold me on this setup is no additional hardware needed and I don't have a desire to run spacers.
I hope...
Hi Tom -
Sorry for the delayed response, busy day, also incredibly hot for SF.
You may notice in my photos I still have the factory brakes on. I haven't switched to the APs.
It rotates with resistance. Upon Joe's request, I had pushed the rubber cover on the perch up and secured the wheel to...
Hi Tom - I got the SM10s 18x10 et30 today with 275/40/18 Supercar3 tires. They do look fantastic.
I have an issue - one that was not accounted for from our chats or your fitment site - contact with the spring perch in front. I haven't test fitted the rear, expecting no issues there.
I was...
Bummer. Entirely speculation - its possible the recall was addressed and they either neglected or opted out of pushing all other available updates. I can imagine the ISTA (or w/e Toyota version of ISTA), has a picklist of updates - not like a computer's updates. Full screen carplay has...
