  1. Need NorCal bodyshop recommendation

Good call on contacting SpeedSF. Sounds like you'll have a result soon.
  2. Need NorCal bodyshop recommendation

Sorry to see this, Tim. I'm glad you're ok. My friend Larry at United Auto Collision Center would most likely be able to take care of this but he's far for you. https://goo.gl/maps/8FqJzcjQyNgNG9Sz8
  3. Rear Axle Failure

I didn't forget about this thread, the car was at the dealer for over 3 weeks - this isn't something they'd dealt with before - so there was a lot of learnings. The headline is that the repair was completed and on my brief drive home, it seems totally fine. Gone is my custom alignment that I...
  4. Exterior/Side Mirror Positions Not Saved with Seat Memory?

What does bimmercode read for the mirror tilt adjustment?
  5. PPF Rec near San Francisco/ Bay Area

My car was done here by Johnny. https://detailership.com/portfolio/2021/3/17/2020-toyota-supra-gr-turbulence-gray
  6. Rear Axle Failure

haha, you already know how this goes - Compromise is the name of the game. Wanted to provide an update to those interested. Toyota has not yet formally approved repairs, but the dealership ordered parts and will proceed with the repair this week. Replacement axle and suspension bolts (torque to...
  7. Would You Drive An EV Tesla?

Swapping between my Supra and Model 3 Performance is pretty interesting. I prefer the smaller diameter steering wheel and the overall rim shape to the Supra (and maybe even the EPS as a whole too), and the visibility out is far superior in the Model 3. Ultimately the EV is a fantastic daily...
  8. Feeling in brake pedal when wipers first start

very probable. euro cars tend to implement some sort of brake drying in case of poor weather so that the pad and rotor have the best brake response/emergency braking. not something i've seen advertised on the supra.
  9. Rear Axle Failure

Appreciate the share. My friend who has access to databases did some digging and found similar results. Notably, we're not using the 340i (or equivalent) axles - which would give more headroom for torque. Unless someone's clear on the rated loads of all the drivetrain components, I can only...
  10. Rear Axle Failure

The slip I’m sure is what prevents the snap. I still have slip but it’s not like I used to spin through 1st and 2nd on unprepared surfaces. Sounds like you’re ready for some built parts soon!
  11. Rear Axle Failure

Thanks. I was aware of axle issues when dragging the car on sticky/prepped surfaces. Especially true with more power and radials. Not sure any of that applies to me - as I described.
  12. Rear Axle Failure

I stuck with the stock tire sizing and wheels because I do like the handling characteristics but I find any 300tw unable to safely handle the power. The slip is both fun and maybe by design to minimize stress on hardware. So I am using a 200tw tire but it is completely street legal and within...
  13. Rear Axle Failure

Thanks. I think having the extra traction in the rear is a contributing factor but it's not great to hear that it's a somewhat common bmw issue - which might mean they were trying to design the axle with as little overhead as possible. That said, if the axle is weak, it should reduce the...
  14. Rear Axle Failure

Thanks for chiming in. All of this gets into a mechanical and technical realm beyond my education and experience. I venture to guess most/all of the drivetrain on the Supra is identical to that found on the high-end Z4. What components that Z4 shares with the BMW line-up, I am unsure of. May I...
  15. Rear Axle Failure

Judging by the lack of information I've found in forums and in groups for the Supra, I wanted to ask if anyone else has broken their OEM axles on stock power. A related post that is somewhat helpful: https://www.supramkv.com/threads/broken-axle-after-mods.9168/ My axle failed similar to the one...
  16. Ruined steering wheel (Anyone else with this issue?)

Quite honestly looks like the area of my steering wheel after I let a friend who is much taller than me try to get into my car without first adjusting both wheel and seat. His jeans rubbed it unsuccessfully getting in and the zig zags were there. That said, I've had this on other cars before and...
  17. Track Alignment

Sharing a new alignment spec I'll try out soon. My original alignment was went a bit out of whack for camber/caster (it was originally like -2.5 front camber and 7.8 front caster). The rears weren't really off by much. Using SPL FLCA w/caster bushing - everything else is stock.
  18. Oil seepage near turbo unit.

I have a 2021 and it looks like I have more crap in that area of the engine than you do (perhaps the different port design from the 2020), but I can visually tell you that mine has oil residue in a similar area to yours (about half the amount).
  19. Is your Supra the same after the recall?

The re-learning theory seems plausible. Our ECU did a lot of learning when a good number of us were babying the car during break-in. I drive much of the same route in city traffic - what has become more apparent is my 2021's exhaust pops happen a lot more. The inner child in me is satisfied.
  20. Track Day Tire Chat

One data point here only is a friend of mine running SC3 after a handful of track events it's heat cycled out. He was at the same event I was at and it was clear they lost their ability to grip and even after a heated session the rubber wasn't nearly as sticky as it was before. He still had some...
