I just wonder...if ever Toyota plans to roll out a Supra successor in the future, dubbed as the “MkVI”, or “A100”, what will it be like? Tetsuya Tada-San said that this MkV will most likely be Toyota’s last pure petrol sports car. How can TOYOTA keep the tradition alive? Perhaps have an inline-6...
Those tiny +2 rear seats doesn’t sound much big of a deal to me. Besides, only small kids can fit at the back comfortably. Why need those seats? Less seats, more fun! Focus is purer on the driving. Well, that’s just for me:)
I believe the B58 will be more reliable than the B48 due to its larger displacement which can handle more heat and load than the B48. The B48 may be more fuel efficient; but in the long run, the B58 is clearly more reliable.
I’ve been hearing countless arguments that the Supra is a BMW. But how come I’ve never heard people saying that the Z4 is a Toyota? It’s a collaboration between BMW and Toyota. Just wondering....:hmm:
Inline-4 is simply a B58 minus 2 cylinders. But of course, nothing could replace the balance of an inline-6; just that it’s heavier. But I’ll go with the B58 since that’s the main reason of the collaboration.
Will the 2-liter version/s be a better buy than the 3.0-liter variant? How is that so? Isn’t it Toyota collaborated with BMW because of the inline-6? Inline-4 is just for markets with stricter emission regulations, as well as Euro and Asian markets, isn’t it?
As a kid, all we could do was keep dreaming, or play them on video games like Need For Speed, right?:D But dreams do come true at some point in time. :) We can’t tell yet what’s the input from Toyota on this car, like what have they modified. I believe it would not just be an exact copycat from...
Have yet to see it in the metal; but the seating position looks like it sits very close to the rear axle, which is made possible when they decided to ditch the rear seats, whereas the BRZ/86 sits farther from the rear axle. Toyota’s involment is clearly present; and their intention to allow the...
Thank you Toyota, especially CEO and President Akio Toyoda, with the help of Tetsuya Tada-san, for making this happen. It’s Supra amazing! Thank you for bringing back the sportiness into the brand. I’m still looking forward to the 3rd sports car Akio Toyota is planning to make, as well as the...
It’s really hard to compare MkIV and MkV. The MkIV was out since 2002. After 17 years, of course there have been a lot of changes. If the MkIV was not discontinued, we could have seen at least 2 more generations of Supra; and the MkV could have been MkVII instead. And considering this is the...
They needed one another, one way or the other. BMW needed Toyota for financial support, for research & development, to revive the Z4 nameplate, and to make the car more reliable. Toyota, on the other hand, needed the inline-6 engine from BMW to keep the tradition of the Supra alive.
With the...
