Engine weight could play an important factor that Toyota would consider, given that the Supra is advertised to have 50:50 weight distribution. If with this new S58 and they can still achieve that 50:50, why not...
BMW used Toyota, for what? Just for financial support on the Z4?
I think they went auto only in â96 because of emission stuff. Having a manual is a huge possibility; but having a targa top, that sounds like 50-50 to me since itâs a collaboration with BMW, which already has a Z4 convertible.
The side mirrors definitely look cheap. They should have added some strong finishing touches, like make it glossy for it to look more premium. Or probably theyâre reserving the better ones for the refresh.
The aftermarket and tuners will be able fix those bits. Besides the 2JZ engine swap, for those who couldnât wait for the manual, the aftermarket could initially offer mod to make the car manual. Later on, Toyota would surprise everyone by introducing a manual Supra(stock) once again.
What I like about the 2020 Supra:
-3.0-liter inline-6 engine
-Seating position(close to the rear axle)
-Double-bubble roof design
-Sleek and wide exterior design(reminiscent to the FT-1 Concept)
What I donât like about the 2020 Supra:
-No manual transmission(hopefully soon...)
-Not so much like...
In the future, if the MkV wants to become a legend, a manual transmission is required. Sports cars with manual doesnât depreciate as much as automatics do. Unless AT is the sole transmission available, then we donât have a choice. Of course the more choices the better. And being an enthusiast...
The hype will definitely make a lot of people buy the Supra. Toyota has been aggressively marketing the Supra. Being an enthusiast car, though, I know and I believe they will bring out the manual version sooner than later. We just have to wait.....and keep waiting a little more. For sure the...
Sounds quite interesting. Itâs definitely a possibility. I think the 3 transmissions would be the current 8-speed Auto, a DCT, and a 6-speed manual transmission.
If the manual makes its way, hope itâll make it to the 3.0-liter inline-6 version.
Now that Jaguar is killing off the manual transmission on the F-Type, in the US, I wonder if this decision made by Jaguar will affect Toyotaâs chances of bringing in a manual transmission to the Supra. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Personally, I donât think Toyota would do badge engineering. They would just ruin their reputation as being a reliable car manufacturer if the badge engineered car turns out not to be so good in a few years time; and considering that the Supra is their halo car, and that theyâve spent a lot on...
