I’m just going off my personal experience with the G42 and the fact that the 235 shares the Mini Cooper platform which by all accounts is pretty fun to drive. I’ve heard from a couple of folks that they found it more engaging than the G42. Of course it really depends on the experience one is...
The truly sad part (other than the sales guy being clueless) is that there’s a good chance the 235 is more fun to drive around town than the G87 (and almost certainly the G42). That is unless going sideways everywhere is a primary source of enjoyment. There’s just zero driver involvement with...
Anyone else notice Thomas's reply regarding the Supra on his G87 Instagram post?
I'll reserve any judgement until I get to drive one, but it sure sounds like the G87 has lots of speed and competency with little thrills/driving engagement. Kinda like the G42 M240i. Bummer
What are folks doing at home alignments doing to achieve a level service? I once attempted an at home alignment on my last Miata with a camber plate and gauge kit not realizing how out of level my garage floor was beforehand. Needless to say I couldn’t achieve a good alignment and eventually...
Folks at bimmerpost lost their shit over that review. All the typical call outs of them being influencers with opinions not worth listening to. Thomas himself even chimed in on one of the threads to explain where they were coming from. Felt like a pretty honest take to me. Haven't seen any...
That's what I figured. I test drove one last October and was surprised how much it didn't bother me once I got moving. Just the thought of living with it day to day that I've wondered about. Good to be reminded by an owner that it isn't necessarily a problem.
Also good call on the mirrors. I've...
So I was in discussions with a sales rep about test driving the new M2 and placing an order for one as I continue my search the the one car that can do everything I need it to (wife has an Atlas for the "utility" side of things).
I've already backed out after being informed of the 1+ year wait...
Same here. I've sold them 4 cars and each one has come in exactly the same as the online offer. I should note that the last 3 times I did the offer via Edmunds which in-turn spit out the Carmax offer. According to folks at Carmax that often nets more than what they would offer directly.
People bragging about their new cars “spec”, or onlookers gushing about the “spec” based on only a picture with no info regarding mechanical options. That isn’t the full spec of a car. Which leads me to the real source of my annoyance: Appearances mattering above all else. I see a lot of this...
Years ago I drove a brand new M2C and the interior felt nice and tight. By contrast I sat in a used 2020 with close to 50k miles on it a couple weeks ago. Holy hell. Everything I touched creaked and moved around. Felt like a shit box IMO :(
Still love those cars though.
Having never owned a...
I think Sharocks was making comparisons to the F87. The OG model is closer to 3,400lbs with the M2C clocking in around 3,560 if I'm not mistaken.
But yeah, the G87 is a porker.
This thread over at Bimmerpost has some of the best shots of the G87 M2 I've seen to date. These were taken very recently in AZ.

I still think the looks are pretty divisive, but have to admit it's growing on me quite a lot. Especially...
Out of balance tires tend to behave like this. The vibrations being noticeable at certain speeds and less or totally imperceptible at others. Focusing on the tires first is the right move IMO. Hope it gets squared away for you soon.
Based on the pics of the test mules it looks like the front end, and really the entire exterior, will be largely unchanged from the prototype.
I'll reserve judgment until I've spent some time with one in person, but yeah, that front end is just strange looking to me in photos and video.
