Even as a non-owner I find the toxicity of that forum absolutely infuriating. I’m glad this forum exists so there can be some civil discussions about this particular car.
What did you think of the divisive front end in person? I’ve heard some folks say it looks better.
I quite like the styling of the rest of the car from what I’ve seen on video. I dare say more so than the Supra, minus the front dead on.
Still not convinced this will be any good to actually...
For those hoping for a targa top (I'm one of them): where would you envision the top being stowed? I ask because the hatch opening seems pretty constrained. Wouldn't that put a damper on being able to put it in the trunk?
I replaced my MK7 GTI DSG with my manual Golf R. While I definitely had my issues with that car and transmission I'd say I much prefer the DSG and honestly regret the "upgrade" I made because of its absence.
Was just getting ready to post this. My favorite automotive YouTuber.
I've been a manual purist with sports cars for a very long time, but what I realized in recent years is that it isn't always better. If the trans feels numb it doesn't add as much to the experience.
My current car is a...
I went to look at Supras at a local dealer last Sunday. Two of the four they had outside (in a covered spot) were incredibly dirty and obviously hadn't been touched in a long time. During the time I was there several groups of people came through the lot. Not a single one of them paid any...
In the most recent episode of The Carmudgeon show Jason claims that Porsche told him the actual issue is a drive by noise emission test that California instituted. Interesting and infuriating if true.
Here’s a link to the episode. He starts in on it at 1:00:38...
PDK in the GT4 doesn't look to be much better. Still pretty tall gearing IMO...

Someone from bimmerpost just posted a bunch of in person pics of the 86. I think Toyota did a great job with the styling...

I’ve heard rumors of a hybrid electric powerplant that uses a rotary engine. Would be pretty interesting to see Mazda adapt the RWD platform they’ve supposedly been developing to use that in a RX car.
There’s also the rumor that Toyota has been in talks with Porsche to use their next gen...
Well said.
I’m just glad they’re making a successor in the first place. Even if it doesn’t live up to hopes or expectations. I’d love to see some competition with Japanese automakers and sports cars again. The idea of a new MR2 and some sort of RX7 really excited me. I know the chances of that...
After watching Larry Chen’s photo shoot video for the Z proto I gotta say I really like the exterior styling of the car. The only thing I’m not so sure of is the front end dead on. From every other angle I’m really digging it.
Now the fact that this is based off the ancient 350/370z platform has...
I also had really hyped the car up in my mind prior to driving it. So that definitely didn't help. It's doubtful any car could live up to anticipation I had managed to build up over months of obsession with Porsches, and 718s in particular.
I will say that I was tempted to buy it based on looks...
The 718 I drove was a base PDK. I found the transmission surprisingly slow even in sport mode, the engine had massive turbo lag and sounded bad (to my ears), and the car felt very heavy. Mind you this was just a 45 minute test drive around town. I didn't get the chance to drive it on something...
Sadly I still haven’t gotten the chance to drive one. I was going to wait until April or May. Then the pandemic happened. My wife and I are both at risk so we have been very cautious about our levels of exposure. As such trips to dealers haven’t been high on our list.
Hadn't thought of the fact that the '21s may already have been produced in appreciable quantities and are ready for delivery. I wonder how many '20s are sitting somewhere waiting to ship as well?
I think there are far worse YouTubers out there. That said, I quickly grew tired of Raiti's videos once I noticed the lack of substance, and worse yet, the overall laziness of the content. Going to dealers and reviewing the SAME model car over and over just to pump content out is very annoying...
