My guess⦠you are now 1.5L overfilled hence why the sensor reading did not change. You also need an oil pump (unrelated to overfilling).
I would drain the oil and measure what comes out, then go from there.
Edit: make sure youāre pulling the correct sensor value; there are apparently multiple...
Electronically placing the ZF8 in neutral requires line pressure. The engine doesnāt necessarily have to be started, but it must be cranked to build pressure then you have approximately 15 minutes before the transmission will lose pressure and go back into Park. Thereās more details on how all...
Again, ABS has been mandated for over a decade on passenger vehicle vehicles. Motorcycles have different regulations.
You realize youāre talking down to people who have 4 to 5 years of experience with these cars and are trying to clear up the misinformation youāre posting in this thread, right?
I mean, websites are created by humans, and humans make mistakes. Both ABS and immobilizers are mandated for passenger vehicles in Canada (easily verified by taking a few seconds to search). For example:
Introduced in 2005 and effective as of 2007, the subject of theft protection has been...
12.2v (~65% SoC) from a 90ah battery should be more than enough to start the car, and itās a bit weird that it cannot be jumped. Not sure what size the Hilux battery is so I canāt say much there.
Thereās a few reports of starter failures in early model cars. Hopefully it is not that⦠but it...
Yep, that makes sense, Iām wondering how the IBS actually controls what is being drawn from the battery maintainer. Wouldnāt that require some sort of manipulation to the current between the battery maintainer and battery?
Iām probably getting way off-topic, but itās a really fascinating...
Very cool/creative solution. Interesting that your battery is 90ah; mine (US market) is 105ah.
I also hook a 5amp charger up every couple of weeks and have not had the SoC go beyond low 80%s. I do wonder (technically) how the BMS/IBS prevents the battery from hitting 100% via an external charger.
Weāre not talking about engine modifications⦠thatās a straw man.
I agree the factors you outlined are important for battery lifespan, along with battery registration. Iām seeing no empirical evidence to go against the intended (and extremely simple) service procedure.
In a way we are lucky the Supra has the button to disable start/stop. Some of the newer BMWs (e.g. US spec 2021-2024 M340i) had the button removed. That said, I plan to keep my car on the 03/2022 I-level forever if possible.
This is a lesser version of āI never wear my seatbelt and havenāt died yet.ā Everyone is free to do as they wish with their own car, but to suggest going against extensively documented guidance by the engineers who designed the car is rather silly, especially when there are widely available...
Much of this is incorrect, or misleading, depending on what you mean by āprogramā. Thereās a lot of information out there on how BMWās IBS works, notably within ISTA and the shop manual, but in short a new like-for-like battery should be registered. If the capacity (aH) or type (AGM/lead...
Strongly recommend avoiding this practice. Generally speaking, BMW charging logic (āEfficient Dynamicsā) does not charge batteries at idle and only does so during deceleration events (there are exceptions if the battery reaches a minimum SOC, but thatās beyond the scope of this post). Running...
On Bimmerpost Iāve seen at least one person mention they had a whining noise coming from the oil pump (along with inability to measure), which was resolved after replacement, so hopefully thatāll take care of it for you.
Ha well, āblown out of proportionā is a bit subjective, but thereās...
