  1. Cannot measure oil

My guess… you are now 1.5L overfilled hence why the sensor reading did not change. You also need an oil pump (unrelated to overfilling). I would drain the oil and measure what comes out, then go from there. Edit: make sure you’re pulling the correct sensor value; there are apparently multiple...
  2. HOW TO CHANGE AUT GEAR TO NEUTRAL - HELP

Electronically placing the ZF8 in neutral requires line pressure. The engine doesn’t necessarily have to be started, but it must be cranked to build pressure then you have approximately 15 minutes before the transmission will lose pressure and go back into Park. There’s more details on how all...
  3. 2025 Supra 3.0 Base (Automatic vs Manual) - Canadian Spec

Again, ABS has been mandated for over a decade on passenger vehicle vehicles. Motorcycles have different regulations. You realize you’re talking down to people who have 4 to 5 years of experience with these cars and are trying to clear up the misinformation you’re posting in this thread, right?
  4. 2025 Supra 3.0 Base (Automatic vs Manual) - Canadian Spec

I mean, websites are created by humans, and humans make mistakes. Both ABS and immobilizers are mandated for passenger vehicles in Canada (easily verified by taking a few seconds to search). For example: Introduced in 2005 and effective as of 2007, the subject of theft protection has been...
  5. SOLD: OEM Stock 2024 Wheels + Tires + TPMS (Los Angeles)

Great condition and price, wish you weren’t 3000 miles away:cry:
  6. Changing Vehicle Battery

12.2v (~65% SoC) from a 90ah battery should be more than enough to start the car, and it’s a bit weird that it cannot be jumped. Not sure what size the Hilux battery is so I can’t say much there. There’s a few reports of starter failures in early model cars. Hopefully it is not that… but it...
  7. Changing Vehicle Battery

Sounds like you may need a starter.
  8. Removing battery for winter storage

Yep, that makes sense, I’m wondering how the IBS actually controls what is being drawn from the battery maintainer. Wouldn’t that require some sort of manipulation to the current between the battery maintainer and battery? I’m probably getting way off-topic, but it’s a really fascinating...
  9. Removing battery for winter storage

Very cool/creative solution. Interesting that your battery is 90ah; mine (US market) is 105ah. I also hook a 5amp charger up every couple of weeks and have not had the SoC go beyond low 80%s. I do wonder (technically) how the BMS/IBS prevents the battery from hitting 100% via an external charger.
  10. Changing Vehicle Battery

We’re not talking about engine modifications… that’s a straw man. I agree the factors you outlined are important for battery lifespan, along with battery registration. I’m seeing no empirical evidence to go against the intended (and extremely simple) service procedure.
  11. Coding start/stop memory

In a way we are lucky the Supra has the button to disable start/stop. Some of the newer BMWs (e.g. US spec 2021-2024 M340i) had the button removed. That said, I plan to keep my car on the 03/2022 I-level forever if possible.
  12. Changing Vehicle Battery

BMW consistently stresses the criticality of registration for battery lifespan. It takes seconds… why would you not?
  13. Changing Vehicle Battery

This is a lesser version of ā€œI never wear my seatbelt and haven’t died yet.ā€ Everyone is free to do as they wish with their own car, but to suggest going against extensively documented guidance by the engineers who designed the car is rather silly, especially when there are widely available...
  14. Changing Vehicle Battery

Much of this is incorrect, or misleading, depending on what you mean by ā€˜program’. There’s a lot of information out there on how BMW’s IBS works, notably within ISTA and the shop manual, but in short a new like-for-like battery should be registered. If the capacity (aH) or type (AGM/lead...
  15. Removing battery for winter storage

Yep, manufacturers have varying approaches. I’m also a former Honda owner; I miss the simplicity of the 51/51R batteries.
  16. Removing battery for winter storage

Strongly recommend avoiding this practice. Generally speaking, BMW charging logic (ā€œEfficient Dynamicsā€) does not charge batteries at idle and only does so during deceleration events (there are exceptions if the battery reaches a minimum SOC, but that’s beyond the scope of this post). Running...
  17. Auto start stop goes into neutral and shuts off when stopped at a stoplight

I’m going to guess you need a starter.
  18. FS (NC): 2020 Nitro Yellow Premium 3.0 | 12K miles | Warranty | Unlockable ECU | $52K OBO

Clean car! Love to see these near stock. GLWS.
  19. Oil level not reading correctly and whining noise coming from the engine ?

Awesome. Yeah, it’s a fairly big job as the subframe has to be dropped.
  20. Oil level not reading correctly and whining noise coming from the engine ?

On Bimmerpost I’ve seen at least one person mention they had a whining noise coming from the oil pump (along with inability to measure), which was resolved after replacement, so hopefully that’ll take care of it for you. Ha well, ā€œblown out of proportionā€ is a bit subjective, but there’s...
