Liked! Toyota's decision to team up with bmw is sounding better and better. The timing sounds about the same as for the Supra too. We could very well be reading details of the Supra's chassis. :headbang:
We're talking about the top people in Toyota that have an impact on the next Supra though. Is Yaguchi involved too? Would be a cool connection to previous Supras.
Sounds like you would make yours a track focused/dedicated car? Agreed, turbos just aren't robust for the track if you're going to be doing a ton of racing. But I just don't see there being a NA engine option becoming available with the horsepower numbers (and efficiency standards) this car...
I could see a dry sump possible at the price points being rumored. And this being Toyoda's pet project I'm sure it'll be tuned be right at home on the track. Ohlins from the factory would be sick! But I'm not sure you'll get your no-turbo wish :(
Do we know where Toyota usually tests its cars? Someone brought up the Ring in Germany but don't they also test at home at Fuji?
Haven't paid attention to where most Toyota test mules get spotted, or even if they get spotted often at all. :what:
Damn I'm not usually a rocket bunny look fan but those fenders work with the FT1 design. Red looks hot with all that CF bodywork contrasting against it. Lost the active spoiler though?
We'll have flying cars by the time the NSX hits the streets
Once we see the first mule spy pics it'll probably be 1-2 years at most before the car is introduced. So Toyota and spy photogs: get to work!
Here is a great writeup on the LFA and Toyota's carbon fiber factory. There are hints of making use of it in future Toyota/Lexus cars but the article shows just how costly and difficult it is to work with. They likely realized the costs just didn't work and partnering with BMW made more...
Can't remember where I read but someone at Toyota said it'll be something like 10%(?) smaller. It's long because it's sitting on a Lexus RC platform which won't be the case with the production car.
I think October 2015 is too soon for the production car to get shown. So far all we've seen is a design studio styling concept. Toyota nor BMW has released a concept based on the actual joint platform yet, so we've got a way to go. My guess is that the production car gets revealed in 2016 sometime.
Supercar potential for non-supercar prices.. highly modifiable, bulletproof engine just like the 2JZ-GTE and styling as close to the concept as poss. Inline 6 turbo and 2+2 is a must. Dont care if they offer anything but a coupe.
