It's funny looking at the weight ranges you put down. Makes you realize how much more equipment has become standard now. You really never see 6-700 pounds difference between base and fully optioned now, it's all just baked in. Defiitely one of the things i miss about those days.
That said it's...
I like how they've approached this. No secret that the internal idea behind the concept is the Supra but keep the name off of it until you have a more realizable concept with production closer in mind.
I also think FT1 was more about showing the world that Toyota enthusiasm is back and serious...
Too small and not the right venue for it. They introduced the concept at the biggest US show so you can bet if there's another one coming it will be shown at either Detroit, NY (less likely) or Tokyo.
I'm sure there won't be an entire year without something. We'll see some FT-1 / Supra news, leaks, spy pics, another concept. Car companies know the marketing game and how to keep people talking and interested in their cars before they're brought to market.
No no no no. BMW's 6 cyl might be a great engine but we're talking about the very heart, essence, identity of a car when we're talking about the engine.
The Supra's going to be Toyota's top of the line performance car, what a shame it would be if it didn't even have a Toyota engine. I can see...
Has anyone driven an RC-F? I'm curious to see how good/bad the auto in it actually is.
On paper Lexus claims it to be as good as DCT, locking torque converter from 2nd through 8th gear which supposed to give crisp shifts. Also works with the car's G-force sensor and can downshift automatically...
Interesting comment about the "just one avenue of sports car" ... i've always felt there is more room in between a top of the line sports car which the Supra should be and the 86.
That's a good thing I think. Means they're less likely to deliver what they promise with this car. I doubt they want to go down in history as the guys that tarnished the legendary name.
This sounds like a totally modular platform which can be used for models of all sizes. Wonder if Toyota has any future plans for more than just one model. If it's a high tech lightweight scalable platform, I'd love to see them use it for more than one car.
Render of what the BMW-Toyota sports car might look like. This looks purely BMW so I doubt the Toyota will look anything like this. Plus its a convertible. And I hope this isn't true - that BMW is leading design of both cars.
"Some sources mention the reborn Toyota Supra and the BMW Z4...
Unfortunately not. But over the summer there was this report that a dual clutch transmission was possibly under development by TMG (Toyota Motorsport GmbH). http://www.motoring.com.au/news/prestige-and-luxury/lexus/no-tmg-performance-cars-44241

@Hank Lee I've seen that review. Good comparo.
Even though I shoot with Canon I'm beginning to think that the company is falling behind a bit now. With a 2 year cycle for its pro level bodies like the 5D, it's being passed by by aggressive companies like Sony (and even Nikon with their...
