Purporting you need -4° is silly, IMO. HPDE Winner advice...
In the case of the car that shredded 3 pairs of PS4S with a good track alignment and a check-every-box list of SPL parts -- that was solved by switching to a more track appropriate tire. Zero other changes and never a tire issue...
It's a track-dependent tire issue, not camber. I've failed PSS and PS4S in the exact same way on cars with solid track alignments. There's not enough sidewall strength so they roll over and peel the shoulders off.
RE: LL 2021 vs 2023 lap times
I'm not discounting the fact that the driver may have been a factor. However, having owned and tracked both a 2021 and now a 2024 MT I can tell you the suspension revisions that were made in 2023 made a massive improvement in the car's behavior on track. It is...
First track day ever? All you need is SRF, helmet and ideally an alignment.
I would absolutely run the OEM pads to start. They are 100% capable. Save the Hawks until you're at least solo if you decide to continue on.
PS4S will be fine to start out. I generally like them as a dual duty...
I'm using a Veepeak Bluetooth OBDII scanner and a free app called Car Scanner running on an old spare Android phone.
Thanks, very much appreciated! The more I drive this car the more I am impressed.
Phil's just posted the first container is due in port 9/16. I have a bunch of days starting...
Also some temp data. First session, ambient temps ~70° -- these cars in stock form do incredibly well at managing coolant and oil temps:
Intake temps with MST v2 -- upper is S1 IAT. Looking at this I think I'm sold on getting the turbo heat shield and maybe fab up something to shield...
The internet has turned casual enthusiasts into automotive hypochondriacs..
I've owned both auto and 6sp MKV. They're both great at what they do, so go with what you really want.
I hit up CMP again yesterday still all stock sans alignment and brake fluid. I was hoping for 1:44s since it was going to be 10-15° cooler than a few weeks back. I ran some mid 1:45s again first session but had grip issues everywhere. I thought it was just the track being a bit green due to...
I much prefer everything about the C7 interior. And I'm not being facetious - Literally everything. The MKV interior is the most disappointing aspect of the car, IMO.
So following up on this. Day 2, first morning session it was 78° and I made my way through traffic and got a decent flyer in on lap 7. I was on my way to a predicted 1:44.2 - which realistically would have been a 44.5ish - but I gave the point by to a GT3RS that was suddenly on my ass and...
Day 1 of 2 at CMP in the books. I'll post more details after tomorrow but a few thoughts and a question/issue..
First, the suspension changes made in '23+ are a massive improvement, IMO. The car is wayyyy more settled --especially over curbing-- and confidence inspiring. The front and rear...
None so far but first track day is tomorrow. I don't anticipate any issues, though. I had the same setup on my previous Supra using SPL arms.
I did have caster issues on my 135is when I did just FLCA. With the camber dialed where I wanted it the wheel was pushed so far forward the tire was...
I've owned all of the 90s JDM turbo cars, early 00s like S2000, 350Z, a bunch of Corvettes C6 ZR1, C7Z06, C8 Z51, LS3 NB Miata and on and on... When the MKV was announced I was a huge hater coming from the MKIV world, die hard stick shift guy and not being a BMW fan, etc... After sitting on...
Out of the candidates listed the Supra is going to be the most fun and engaging street car, IMO. Need a bit more detail as to the use cases, though. It's a jack of all trades and does everything fairly well. The powerband is incredible with TQ for days from ~2500RPM up; you can lug the car...
I'm tracking my '24 MT this weekend for the first time at CMP. I'm running the car all stock except for Verkline FLCA, SRF, CDV delete, track alignment and an MST intake (for spooly bio noises!!1!!). I'm excited to compare to my previous '21 that I had ~16 track days on. I was going to do...
