:D La Jolla is one the most expensive areas, for sure. There are a cluster of medical device companies in the Carlsbad area but try not to live too far away from your employer unless they allow WFH. You may have heard of Bistein (Poway) and Fox (El Cajon). There are also some aerospace companies...
General Atomics and many other companies are always looking for engineers. Check out indeed.com and LinkedIn. And don't overlook the possibility of being a manufacturing engineer. I've been sent to the Philippines, China, and Malaysia as one. Most mfg. engineers start out as mechanical...
My guess is that the base version of this car will have a 0-60 time in the 5.X seconds. That's about the same as a Toyota GR86 which is also low-priced.
One of my neighbors has a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport. He recently told me that he encounters Teslas who want to test him. He hasn't lost a race...
Remember that many parents have their newly-licensed teen drive the "safest" family vehicle. Unfortunately, with an EV, that may mean having a 5000-lb death machine that can flatten a 30 year-old driver's civic, along with the driver.
....not good!
But for most buyers, the acceleration of an EV...
I like to do my own oil changes with all three of our vehicles, partially for that reason. The other reason is that I do other things while the oil is draining, like clean the engine bay, top off fluids, lubricate door, hood and trunk seals, etc.
But certainly, I understand why you'd have the...
San Diego here and still hoping a Supra owner can meet up to let me at least sit in their car. I'm planning to buy one but cannot simply go to a dealership and sit in a reserved Supra unless I reserve it for $500.
I have a feeling that Toyota purposely did not "upgrade" to the iDrive8 and the S58 because historically, German auto manufacturers have not introduced new generations of engines and electronics/software as bug-free. Consumer Reports noted this as well. They advise not to buy the first year of...
They are a great "bang for the buck" at $61,000 or so. (same price as the Supra 3.0)
The Tesla Model 3 Performance is about as fast but neither would likely beat the Supra on a track. I've seen a few GTs on the road but most of the EV6s I see are the non-GT models.
I agree, although nothing is thinner than my old 68 Corvette's steering wheel. That thing was huge and very thin. Manual steering tends to dictate the large diameter.
Your house is cheap because it is many years old? That's the beauty of Prop 13. You can have a multi-million-dollar house and pay less than $5000/year for property tax. I've been here since 1985. The weather is tough to beat.
I sort of enjoy that except for when the car is parked in a crowded parking lot, and I am somewhere where I cannot see the car.
I once rented a $20,000 Vanderhall Venice. That thing did get lots of attention, also.
Nice! Thanks for your input. I don't have the car yet, so if I get a color that I really like, clear, PPF may be the best option.
I have to sell my Mazda 3, first.
