I have no idea how the Z will fare against the Supra in stock form -- none of us do. Where was that ever implied? FWIW My prediction is they'll be comparable with the Supra leading marginally in most areas.
What I meant was - If there were a manual version of the Supra (there's not), I bet...
'Shifting faster' isn't everything.. I understand it's hard for you to truly comprehend, having obviously only been a perpetual spectator and internet commentator. Keep your apples to moon pies comparison; we're talking about every-day attainable sports cars. I'm also talking from...
Please... Nothing says 'I'm a poseur and my car is a fashion statement' more than a dude leasing a sports car and then white knighting it on the internet. With ignorance and arrogance, success is guaranteed!
Despite what you may have read in magazines there is absolutely no guarantee the manual will be slower. I'd put money on me running a quicker ET in a 6sp version of the Supra vs the auto, at least in stock to mildly modded form. The good news is with Z, we can put that to the test vs...
Speak for yourself...
I'm looking forward to this:
And I'll happily bang gears all day long in the slower car rather than simply hold the wheel straight in the quicker car.
The Performance model will almost certainly be 45-47k at most; undercutting the 3.0 by a good margin. The only meaningful option is the transmission if you discard the 240 unit Proto spec. I already posted the spec sheets here...
Am aware.. My point was purporting "Less horsepower" is pure conjecture until you put both cars on the same dyno on the same day, or better yet, the drag strip. Both of which I plan on doing; however, by the time I'm in a Z my MKV will likely be far from stock.
Show me on the doll where the new Z hurt you.
LOL is this factually-inaccurate babble part of your superficial car guy daily affirmation routine? "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough..."
Being a magazine racer you should at least get the facts and figures correct. Less horsepower...
All these frail, threatened egos.. :catfight:
This car will be born into an already maturing aftermarket; what it makes stock is going to be largely irrelevant to those of us that are willing and able to turn a wrench and drive.
No 370Z but I bought my wife a 350Z Touring 6sp many years back and we enjoyed the hell out of it. At the time I wanted an S2000 but she had been DDin'g an NB Miata and was over the convertible so the 350Z won. It was as great car, fun to drive, quick and torque'y enough though I wish it had...
My guess at this point is the Sport will be 38,999-39,999 and the Performance will be 44,999-45,999. The limited Proto version I have no clue, and at 240 units, I don't care. The (hopefully) forthcoming Nismo will probably be low 50's, still undercutting the Supra.
Weight? 3500ish, but...
The reveal itself was pretty underwhelming. Essentially nothing more than a color reveal and reconfirming what was already assumed. Seems the marketing wanks have chosen the trickle of info/spec route to keep a steady hype until we get closer to launch.
That aside... RWD, turbo, MANUAL...
