Speak for yourself...

I'm looking forward to this:

And I'll happily bang gears all day long in the slower car rather than simply hold the wheel straight in the quicker car.
Good for you.....

Still doesn't change the fact that IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE (for the obviously clueless in the room) a manual is worse.

Oh yeah, considering Toyota has scaled back the 20% take rate for 2021 to 15% for 2022 models.
I could even see the new BRZ/GR86 taking away 2.0 sales too. But let's face it, the 2.0 only made sense in countries where you get taxed on engine size.

I love that video. Haven't seen it in forever. I drive semi's myself and it always cracks me up how little boys boast about their "mansmission" 5 or 6 speed
Big whoop bro, try hauling 130,000 lbs up a mountain floating 18 gears.

Despite what you may have read in magazines there is absolutely no guarantee the manual will be slower. I'd put money on me running a quicker ET in a 6sp version of the Supra vs the auto, at least in stock to mildly modded form. The good news is with Z, we can put that to the test vs speculate, and I'm looking forward to that.

Nobody cares about ET's except boy "racers" who can't race on real tracks. We'll see what the lap times are when they go head to head.

I can’t wait for the new Z vs a90 showdown. They should put it up against the slower 2020 and faster 2021. Going to be good!!!
Agreed. Nissan's already making excuses how they didn't build it for performance figures, couple that with them not revealing times or weights, and we already know how it's going to go.

Please... Nothing says 'I'm a poseur and my car is a fashion statement' more than a dude leasing a sports car and then white knighting it on the internet. With ignorance and arrogance, success is guaranteed!

Like, the ignorance and arrogance to say you're better in a manual than a transmission that literally shifts faster than you can blink? That kind?

What were Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Porsche, Nissan, thinking when they put paddle shifts only in their high performance cars, or in some cases, ALL their cars. All they needed was an ignorant and arrogant ? like you!

And by leasing my car, and investing the $45k instead, I made $130k.

Stupid me

The Performance model will almost certainly be 45-47k at most; undercutting the 3.0 by a good margin. The only meaningful option is the transmission if you discard the 240 unit Proto spec. I already posted the spec sheets here: https://www.supramkv.com/threads/all-new-2023-nissan-z-makes-world-debut.10467/post-149672

And WGAF about 'fit and finish' on a cheap 400HP twin turbo sports car with a mansmission? There is absolutely nothing special (let alone great) about the Supra (BMW) build quality for that matter. It's all rubber, plastic and pleather with a splash of CF. My 2021 literally has more squeaks and rattles than just about anything I've ever owned and that is no exaggeration. The passenger seat (among other things) rattles over any bump unless someone is sitting in it.
The problem is it's all relative and I've had a 350Z and a 370Z, and yeah the Supra is definitely a much nicer place to be in than either of those. I don't have any issues with squeaks and rattles in my Supra, but my 370Z... it actually got better after it was rear ended and had to have work done. Even after that, I couldn't have a phone call in that car on the highway.

Sure people don't care about fit and finish on a cheaper car...
On a 40k car vs a 55k car, you'd certainly expect a downgrade in the interior quality of the 40k car.

The problem is there are two different approaches here.
In the Supra, the interior on the Premium at 55k is entirely acceptable for the price.
Now if you go to the 2.0 and 43k, for the price you paid, I'd say the interior is now doing very well for the price.

At 40k, the Z interior with the hard plastic, and the cheap seats, is not exactly fitting for the price point. Now, you go up to the Performance in the Z, or the Proto Spec, or the Nismo version and you're rapidly approaching 50k if not exceeding it. Now the cheap feel of the interior is a lot more glaring for the price paid. To be fair when that same interior was in the 370Z at 30k, it was already considered pretty cheap, but at 30k it was something you expected.

Is the interior my first consideration on a new car? Not at all, but it should probably at least be in line with what you paid for.

Also likewise if you're saying that it's a 'cheap' car at (45-47k) and therefore the interior doesn't matter. Which to be fair if you're concerned with the performance you're not buying the base Z, in which case you are at the 45-47k by your estimate. Which compared to the 3.0 Supra at 51. All of a sudden it's not really undercutting it by that large of a margin. In which case, 4k isn't really a huge difference either, then is that really undercutting it by such a 'good margin' as you put it?

As for the conjecture on dynos...
There have been enough dynos of both motors to establish a general baseline that yes the B58 is highly underrated and that the VR30 is not underrated to the same extent.
Is it possible that the VR30 has been bumped up in the Z? Sure, but looking at the messaging from Nissan about not caring about #'s, outright performance, the reuse of old parts, it's highly unlikely.

They reused parts, chassis, etc. I'm not saying these are bad things, that's just what they did to save costs. It'll be better than the 370Z, it'll have a lot of potential for tuning, sure. But expecting miracles to happen, will likely lead to disappointment.
