I haven't seen another one in any color in a couple months... then yesterday as I was driving home I drove past two within 1 minute of each other on the opposite side of the road. They were both Nitro Yellow's as well - so probably 25%+ of those sold here in the past 2 years. Weird how that...
I'm not surprised they left the filter if they did a "courtesy change" at just 600mi before sale. The bigger question is whether or not they actually changed the oil - or just said they did. :dunno:
As @Loco38SUP said... that's what the filter is there for - and break-in shavings are normal...
Because a 1-2mm difference is so noticeable? j/k (just trollin'). ?
As far as the OP question... I'm in the same camp really... I plan on changing the wheels, but only if I also change the size dramatically (like 18's with 11" width on rears or similar). Spending thousands to wind up with...
Gotta love California. I'd have some choice words for any cop that was scrutinizing my bleeder plug that closely - and that's if I didn't just decide to close the hood on him and go directly to jail.
OK, that's an exaggeration, but I'd definitely be demanding a warrant - or "no looky for you"...
Which is at least part of the reason that era of vehicles commands such a premium in the used market. Recent enough to benefit from more aerodynamic chassis, better safety, and good power - but old enough to come from a time when an ECU was only tasked with monitoring a few (usually just 3-4)...
Now THAT is some good support. That's the way it should be, and they sound like they would be much more rational in determining whether a failure was warrantied or not depending on cause.
With what I've experienced here, I'd expect more of "because you're tuned, we can't cover warranty...
Not really... I'm a stock MY20 owner and I'd call it underpowered. Not slow however... that's a different matter. Just because it's got plenty of torque down low to cover it up doesn't mean you don't ever feel it's a bit "wheezy" at the top of the gear.
Or really any BMW aspect... they're...
 OK, I'm here. It's BMW/Toyota locking them on purpose. LOL.
Makes even more sense given the current EPA guidelines and parts/inventory shortages. If they can eliminate all tuning and force anyone that wants more power out of their car to purchase a new one... it's win-win.
Honestly...
Honestly I stopped keeping track of the year when the next one always sucked a little more than the last one... hence 90's forever. I may enter the new millenium around 2030... but that remains up for debate currently (and it's not looking promising).
It's part of my operating paranoia... I...
I have the same problem... I often chuck stuff on the floor of the passenger side that I don't want (potentially) marring the leather on the seat - but want easy access to.
Later when I go to grab them they are all the way at the back and I have to wait for the seat motor to move forward...
About to hit 25K on mine... still fine, but will get wheels and tires soon. DD only and I'm amazingly good at ignoring kids determined to race me. I'm not perfect at it however, so there have been a few stripes laid at undisclosed intersections in the past 2 years - but very few.
I like to...
So the 6.5's are going in the place of the original rears? That seems like it would be pretty good since it fires to the sides and is even closer than the factory subs. Where will the new fill go? On the back of your custom sub enclosure firing forward?
I'm still holding on my install since...
That supra reminds me of house shopping...
Seller:
"Look at all these upgrades... we spent $150K but we only increased the price by $100K... it's a steal!"
Me:
"It's gonna cost me an extra $80K just to rip all the ugly out of this place and get it back to where it started... that's a rip-off!"
Yup... I'd love a set of the 18's in satin black... would be an insta-sale for me. Seems you're low on the bronze which was my second choice (I know, I know... I missed out on the group buy) :(
Yeah... in a 1/4 mile you might have the jump for a second or two while they're fighting for grip... but by 90 mph you'd have lost that and more. It's cool though, if you do a full lap on almost any track it would be more of a toss-up... unless it's an oval that is. ;)
