I called a lot of Northeast Lotus dealers a month after the Emira was announced. I had several concerns
- most already had a decent size list of deposits and I Would likely get a car in 2023 or possibly 2024 if there are still supply Chain issues.
- I had a hard time getting confirmation of...
Straight from the BMW website for the M240i x CURB WEIGHT - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (lbs) 3871
On the Toyota website they list the curb weight of the 2022 3.0 Premium at 3400 lbs.
Thats 471 more lbs.
I agree it’s a good deal for the money, but the M240I drive weighs 400-500lbs more than a Supra. Supra is built on a true sports car chassis, and obviously some people will prefer a 2 seater and the looks of the Supra.
If someone is paying this kind of money to get their Supra tuned they likely have a lot of supporting mods like downpipe, chargepipe, some will have upgraded turbo, intake, meth, etc, etc. Regardless of ECU your powertrain warranty is bye bye anyway.
The problem with the MKIV US version is that there can’t be many low mileage TT manual cars left that have not be in an accident or heavily modified at some point, finding a low mileage pristine never modified one is hard thanks to Fast And Furious.
The collector market for cars has been going bonkers for the better part of 18 months. I personally think there’s a bubble and and this is not sustainable, but who knows anymore. It’s probably safer investing in collectible cars than the Chinese real estate market :)

Installed some carbon fiber hood vents. compliments the OEM CF mirrors and my CF spoiler pretty well. Much, much better. Trying not to overdue it with too much CF but it’s hard not to want more!
I still want to understand the actual gains of a catless DP vs a high flow catted DP? I know the catted costs more but from my understanding gains are minimal under 700hp or so.
True JDM had their issues (lots of major rust issues for example with some models), but the Big 3 in America made such poorly designed and unreliable cars it was not easy to pass them by early on.
With a global economy this just becomes less of a factor for me as most of these companies are...
I agree, as I said BMW has made strides on their reliability.
I guess my point, and it probably wasn't clear, is that in a global car market I, personally, don't care as much about the region and badge and I care more about the actual car itself.
I personally think dismissing a car because of...
