I wonder if they will announce pricing before they take reservations? Personally I don't think they will announce pricing until April/May before they start shipping. With inflation the way it is I think many car companies are reluctant to get too far ahead on pricing.
You can't even get an allocation for a base 911 right now. Porsche allocations for cars like the 911, 718, etc is about 25-30% of what dealers got in previous years. Think about that, they are getting 70-75% fewer cars than normal... Porsche dealers have been taking deposits for cars they...
The first company who makes a new front end for the Z is going to make some good money :)
I like the rest of the car. A new front end and some Nismo goodies and we are getting somewhere.
Stock, the S58 on the new M3 has been dynoed at 548hp and 480tq. If Toyota were trying to offer a more powerful variant of the Supra this would surely be a good way to do it. This would not be a small bump it would be significant. I do think this engine would pair really well with the ZF too...
I was shocked when I read recently that more Toyota 86 buyers in recent years were buying the 6AT vs the 6 speed manual. To a tune to 73% auto vs 27% manual. Pretty shocking. But with the BRZ Subaru was seeing the opposite, where majority of buyers bought the manual.
I have driven the 6AT in...
Yeah just me wishing but hoping BMW puts the S58 in the upcoming M2 and keeps the DCT and that would carryover to the super high end Supra.
I might just sell my car for that one....
Serious discussion. Just for some background my first car (bought at 16) was a 1981 Mazda RX-7. For the next 10 years I owned many more RX-7's and between my wife and I, we have pretty much had a Mazda, Nissan, or Honda in our garage for the better part of 30+ years.
Like many I saw the...
Porsche is the master of the game. They constantly learn and evolve and make tiny little changes along the way but each change makes the car better. It's the benefit they have had from success and being able to evolve a car over 20, 30, 50+ years. If Toyota keeps the Supra and keeps evolving...
I also would love for someone to explain to me why Nissan is better than BMW in 2021. This is not the 70's, 80's, or 90's. Reliability wise Nissan ranks below BMW using multiple data sources. BMW has made big improvements over the last 5+ years while Nissan has lagged behind and is middle of...
Of course I am serious all this comes from the head of sports cars at Toyota. He actually sought out advice from Mazda and the gentleman who created the Miata and was told two things:
- you have to make a sports car that makes a profit
- if you are going to make a sports car you can't abandon...
The head designer wanted an inline 6 from the start. Toyota looked at doing it themself but the cost would have made the car out of range for many buyers and Toyota did not want a repeat of the MKIV where they made an amazing car that people did not want to buy because of cost.
And we did get...
Yeah I get it, I own a 21 also. I am holding off getting tuned for now but it's nice knowing that if I really want it I can have it. Hopefully at some point there will be other workaround/hacks that are cheaper and more widely available. Because this is not just the ECU for Supra, but for BMW...
$5K is a lot but let's be honest here I see people drop $7K on PPF and $2-3K on just an exhaust for these cars without blinking an eye. Or $7-10K for a full audio system. If you want a full unlock bad enough $5K is what it is.
Ha! rumor has it these lights will turn the auto into a manual and change the fake vents to functional.. And BMW logos on parts magically turn into Toyota...
Thanks for being open about this John. So if I understand for the more expensive service if the dealer locks it you (Visconti) would be able to unlock it yourself without sending overseas? I am in CT by the way :)
Yes, that is pretty cool. And $5K is a lot but we are also talking about $50-60K+ cars here so not crazy for the full unlock.
I am curious what happens though if Toyota does an ECU update and it locks the ECU. Would that mean shipping back to Russia and likely paying again?
