I don't mind it either, I will still probably get an auto unless there is a manual only model (like the Cayman GT4) that has some sort of inherit performance or styling advantage over the other models.
I think it is a Honda in Japan and the LC500 is still a Lexus. I just don't think halo car means auto only or that manual means performance. I am just theorizing a potential 7MT as an option to go head-to-head with the Cayman GT4.
I don't think being a Halo car has to do with anything. You could say the STI and CTR are halo cars as well and they come with manuals. The M8 doesn't come in a manual because it a GT car, not because it is a halo car.
Ironically the GT4 only comes in a manual and is slower in real world straight line speeds than the S and former GTS with PDK.
But I am not here to argue about performance or tech, solely about the option of one. Currently BMW doesn't have a manual transmission for the B58C/B58D. The new G80 M3...
Has ZF stopped producing 6MT transmissions? I looked on their site and only see 7MT transmissions. Also, the 7MT shares architecture with the 7DCT.
GRMN with the option for 7DCT or 7MT perhaps?

I think a lot of people are project their own values onto others in this conversation. Not everyone tunes or modifies their cars or cares about attention from car shows. I also personally don't plan on modding my cars anymore and the 47 hp difference is something that is worthwhile to me. Also...
Yeah I would remove that piggyback asap. It may need a little learning but if it already pushed parameters out of wack then it isn't going to correct itself
Besides tunes (which doesn’t matter here since we are talking about tuned cars), yes they share all of those things. We have known about this from the time Supra parts were leaked on RealOEM about a year and a half ago.
Although after 2 years instead of 1, Toyota just added a plug-in hybrid option to the RAV4. I imagine the hybrid RAV4 owners that want the most fuel economy possible is a much larger group and more important to the brand than the entirety of the 2020 supra owners. It isn't just sports cars that...
The B48 makes more power than the B58D if you ignore it having less cylinders, a different tune, turbo, intake, and exhaust because it has a higher compression.
The LT1 makes more power the B48 if you ignore the other bank of cylinders, the in block cam, different heads, intake, exhaust...
Toyota has been transparent that they will be changing the car every year. Obviously they can’t be too specific or the car won’t sell since people would hold out. Judging off the interview with Tada posted here, I’m assuming exterior and interior updates are coming for the 2022 model. I don’t...
I was not comparing singular updates, I am referring to a constant string of yearly updates. Allowing 2020 owners to tune their cars within warranty means that they also get to retroactively take advantage of every yearly update in the future as well. This defeats the whole purpose of yearly...
