I guess I don't see why a 1 of 500 car is being used for a test mule for the LC-F. The only thing I can see it being used for is something not only important but something they want completely hidden, so it is either the supra or a next gen LFA.
It’s still the best explanation for why an out of production supercar is testing with widebody camo.
As ridiculous as it sounds, the math does work out. If the Supra were going to get wider with a GRMN model, it would also have to increase its wheelbase to keep the 1.55 wheelbase to track...
They are testing the transaxle widebody variant of the Supra, the LFA is being used since it uses a transaxle and has a longer wheelbase to compensate for the wider track to achieve the golden ratio. The additional 5 inches in length will be between the front subframe and A pillar allowing the...
I just don't see how these two cars to even comparable. The Z4 isn't even an enthusiast vehicle anymore unlike the M coupe or Z4 M and is instead more like a Boxster or Mercedes SLC. Even if a die hard BMW owner bought a Supra I wouldn't consider it jumping ship since BMW makes nothing like the...
Depends on the DCT. The current Getrag M DCT is a traditional setup. But a ZF DCT (that the ZF 7mt is based off of) could/would be a transaxle setup as well.
Would that mean the Supra would require a transaxle setup to use a trans like the ZF 7mt? While I do think this is a little far fetched, a transaxle would help with weight distribution, bring the car up market like a lot of the cars it is cross-shopped with like the Cayman, and separate it from...
That front end would look incredible on the Supra. Maybe not those particular headlights but I like how they go up above the hood line to accent the body lines of the fender area.
That's quite a theory you handsome stranger. I also think it is interesting to point out that Magna-PT (formerly known as Getrag) is working on an 7mt and hybridized 7mt. Imagine another Supra with a Getrag manual transmission.
You raise some interesting questions good sir. I wonder if this is why the Cayman GT4 suffers from poor gearing with the 6mt and is preparing for a 7mt model as well (with the GT4RS receiving a PDK.) This would set the scene for Toyota to undercut Porsche.
I know this is farfetched but what...
At $46k youre pretty close to a 2020 3.0 in price, assuming unsold cars will take a minor hit when 2021s arrive. At that point, you will have a car that will outperform the 2.0 and will probably retain resale value better than a 2.0. If it were $39-$42k maybe, but $46k is just so close
I don't think anyone has confirmed this, only a former member spouting it. We also don't know if there are any turbo differences either. Theoretically we could look at the M340i and make assumptions but the turbos may not be identical in the same way the 2020 Supra and X5 doesn't have the same turbo
RWD 400hp Q50s and Q60s start at $55k and $57k respectively. I highly doubt the new Z will be $40k with 400hp unless it is literally a 370z body and interior with a VR30.
Just because it isn’t the pinnacle doesn’t mean it isn’t a halo car.
Porsche made the GT4 before the Supra. An argument could be made they made the GTS 4.0 in response to the Supra though.
The head on the 2020 B58C models were developed at the same time as the head on 2021 B58D models, therefore one is not older than one another. BMW is even slowly transitioning away from the B58 to the B58C in current non M-Sport models and from the B58 to B58D in M-Sport models
