They managed to keep this one pretty quiet aside from the WRC stuff. But basically they always wanted to do this, Akio specifically, and the previous Yaris GRMN was just a stopgap until they could complete it.
I worked on a few comm chains for this a while back and it was cool to see how...
1-3 aren't limited to Cali... 4 is debatable, but weather is pretty decent there year round.
but if you love an authoritarian state that will tax you to death, then it's for you :)
It's cool as far as everything you could ever need business wise being around LA, but I generally avoid it when possible. Fun to visit, but you couldn't pay me to live there...
I was legitimately confused by the first pic because the seat looks like it has next to zero padding and very little bolstering, but that second pic helped out a bit.
There have been some interesting individuals here, but when the site started getting more traffic the admins/mods made a decision to try to curb toxic behavior and most of the members have been active in staying with that trend over time. Constructive criticism is one thing and you don't want an...
Yeah, you could get about 80% of the way using parts literally engineered for the Supra if it's available in the 4cyl. It's like if someone did what you did, Jeff, only swapped all the manual stuff from the IS250 into the 350 instead of vice versa with the engine.
You just have to mess around...
I'm not at all a fan of the R35 driving experience (lifeless is perhaps an understatement) and to that end none of my friends that had them kept them longer than 3 years. Amazing track potential, but it leaves a lot to be desired. Most of these guys were ex-Supra guys, specifically A80.
One of...
Yepppp.
But yeah it doesn't sell poorly, at least relative to GS. But forecasts show it declining and we know that on average that segment is getting hit really hard, so minimizing model overlap is a focus.
There are a few reasons why they are 4cyl AWD only, but the two most important are: they basically just copy pasta'd the RAV4 system into the Camry and Avalon and because the ES will be getting the V6 AWD first. So, the solution is to buy a Lexus when it debuts :)
There has actually been high level talk about getting rid of the IS after the GS is gone interestingly enough. It would be ES (FWD/FWD Hybrid/AWD/Hybrid e-AWD) and LS (RWD/RWD Hybrid/ AWD/AWD e-AWD) and that's it. This SUV/CUV/truck craze is the worst thing ever for a car enthusiast, and we're...
It was originally supposed to be 2022MY (2021 reveal), but they pushed it back. Ultimately it gives us more time to refine some of the newer systems on the car and ensure it's the best it can be though.
The reason the coupe weighs 4400lbs too :(
Yep, VANOS/Valvetronic is locked out on that engine. That was the one thing that disappointed me most as even the 2J guys are all using vvti now.
But having it locked out at max lift/duration for a high number doesn't really matter I suppose.
It's cool because Papadakis and parts development, but yeah otherwise IMO it's not really groundbreaking yet (he has plans to keep going). There is already that German tuner on here that did 800+ whp built motor back a while back and then the BMW guys making power on the B58B. It would have been...
