Toyota isn't a partner on their other engines, and the deal as far as i'm aware was only for the NA FA20D (4U-GSE) in the twins. But yeah, it is a fair downgrade, both from an efficiency and maintenance standpoint.
It should be fairly limited given that even the A91 edition is limited to 1000 units. I'd put my estimate at 1-300 cars personally, but I haven't seen or heard a figure on that end yet (likely not even out of discussions).
See below
The FA in the 86/BRZ is a decent engine and Toyota assisted in developing that platform, which is not to be taken for granted.
the FA20DIT, even with plastic intake and regular DI seems to still be decent enough for now.
Hopefully they manage to do better, especially with Toyota offering...
You know why? Engineering, more specifically strength of materials, has gotten far more advanced in the recent decades and combined with tighter budgets has combined to try to find the best cross axis between cost and efficiency.
This is the reason things don't seem to be anywhere near as...
No, the Z4 dynos at ~380whp and the Supras do ~335whp. I think the confusion about this goes back to thinking the Supra was the only car that is underrated, but that's not true. It's a BMW thing in general afaik.

^ I mean, I've already told people about what to expect with the GRMN like 1000x over so I hope not. But then again, this upgrade was communicated in a huge thread forever ago (pages and pages of discussion) so maybe you're right.
well, neither are present there so probably a good indication haha.
I heard about Downshift from someone on here and asked about it and found out about Phantom.
This was from the US side though, which I typically take a bit of a grain of salt with, but lately most of it has been spot on so...
