I think too many people are making too big of a deal of that...
And if building a 1000hp monster is your goal, don't get a mk5. The b58 may nicely and cheaply handle 2x the stock output, but you're dreaming if you think a BWM built aluminum block i6 is going to equal 2jz for high power...
This is something I hear from mk4 owners often. A lot of this 'the mk4 has a wet noodle chassis' nonsense too. The thing you guys are missing, is MASS. The FRS wasn't exactly the first light, tight, fun to drive, rwd momentum car to ever come out, it just happened to be the first one Toyota has...
All truth. But Vancouver Canada is probably not the only region that actually walked away from their annual emissions testing program. We had annual smog tests here for about 15 years and about 5 ago they completely shut it down because the average car on the road was now obd2 equipped, clean as...
Honestly IF Toyota and BMW don't deliver on a manual option, instead of putting all that R&D into making the b58 and chassis work with a manual, spend the time making a 2jzgte vvti with a t56 or cd09 work with the new Supra chassis instead. The b58 is a decent motor if you just want a new supra...
Negatory. Only 96 was the year no manuals sold... because the 6spd turbo was not offered due to OBD2 kicking in and Toyota didn't make that model compliant in time. The 6spd was back for 97 and most certainly sold. You could still get a manual NA in 96 too.
I'm not sure what article you're referring to, that was not what I got from the recent interviews.
I would consider the RC300/350 separately from the RCF as it's pretty radically different body, engine and price wise.
I would. I betcha Lexus is pretty sore over the whole deal. Sell a BMW with a Lexus badge on it? It will never happen, that's their biggest competitor.
It's also completely unnecessary. They have 3 different performance coupes in their current lineup plus at less one convertible. It's kinda...
Sure they are, via Magna Steyr of course. The interviews and statements on both sounds make it sound like if you want a vert, get the z4. If you want a hardtop, get the Supra. They may not want the two models to step on each others toys at all.
Yeah Targa seems like a no brainer on this platform. The question is, will BMW allow it. Might be too convertable like for their taste.
As I understood it, part of the reason the mk4 targa was only 60lbs+ on the fixed roof vs the +100 diff on the mk3, was the extra chassis bracing was in both...
What's an Aerotop? Come on stick to standard names, I had to do a quick Google just to make sure Toyota never made an Aerocabin mk4...
Targa or Sport Roof please:)
Fyi the Targa option only adds 60lbs on the mk4 and is pretty much just as stiff with the roof bolted on. Also if you don't put...
Not sure if this was posted yet, but Speedhunters gets it...

We should be looking is the direction that the new Supra could go. Paddy put it more eloquently than I could earlier this week: “I think a lot of people are making the...
Exactly. The wing has always been polarizing, even on the mk4. Many people custom ordered their mk4 Turbos without, even more took them off down the road. If the stock mk5 has great cd and downforce the way it is, don't force a wing on everyone. Its easier to add it then to delete it, plus it...
Awesome, it should be at all the major new car shows across the country as the tour makes it way over. Totally going to the Vancouver one this year (March).
Maybe in your country, but in North America, I think I'd be much happier to spend a grand on a new tune or catback, make back the power difference and then some, and then save myself $20grand USD. And it remains to be seen what the GRMN version of the car goes for too.
So a bunch of junk only a BMW fanatic would even notice or care about? I'd be happier if the car came with the old cable based slide control switches the old mk2 Supras to be honest, they are way more reliable. Anything they can do to bring the price of this car down sounds good to me!
Guys, obviously there are economies of scale at play here, home markets and 2 power house automotive giants who collaborated on a project together but are still competitors at the end of the day. Considering where these cars are built, its pretty obvious BMW played the home card and priced...
