I have a launch edition, but its black and I really liked the black wheels and the red interior. But most of all I wanted one of the first ones back in 2019. Now I don't see much reason for the launch edition
Agree with above... black wheels main benefits of Launch Edition. Also, if the dealer never flashed the ECU, there is a chance you won't need to get it bench unlocked (~$400 cost). You can easily find a used 2020 (or even 2021) for less $$ with a tunable ECU.
*Also - when was the date of...
Yeah - search the forum. There is a lot of oil discussion. The GR oil is really expensive and unnecessary. However, I would recommend using 0w-20 oil that meets all the specs. Don't give Toyota a reason to try and pin this on you
Same question. I understand the AA catted dp recently went to a new/different catalytic converter for this unit. Can't remember where I read that though
-No issues with low oil, or any other problems
-2020 Launch Edition (not sure production date, but launch edition so obviously one of the first)
-Break in nice and easy, but also couldn't help a couple hard pulls to red line each time I drove it after the first couple hundred miles.
-First oil...
Thanks - great to get some instructors feedback. Well I'm doing NASA supra sunday on the 30th, and I'm on the waitlist for Chin on May 31 and June 1. Would be a solid 3 days if I get in.
I will say NASA Great Lakes communication has been excellent, both Eric and Chris seem to be passionate...
Also - has anyone done or considered Mid-Ohio's 3 day High Performance Course? It's not cheap, but looks like it could be well worth the cost based on curriculum / seat time over the 3 days.
It's about 2-3x the cost of HPDE events at Mid-Ohio put on by AutoInterests, ChinTrackDays, and NASA...
Better question. Did you guys pay the $300+ insurance for the single day Supra Sunday?
For a full 3 day event I would be fine paying it, but it is hard for me to fork over $300+ for what's going to be mostly lead/follow on the track for an hour or two
Put a piece of tape over OBD II port, and specifically tell them not to plug in at all. My dealership respected this, and they reset oil change interval on dash. I just politely explained the situation and told them it will cost me $500 to unlock it if they flash it.
Man... Mikey may be a great tuner, but seems like he has major communication issues. I’ve seen people say he is well worth the wait, but I question that. Communication is so important with a tuner
Being my first car with a lot of these nannies, I’ve become interested in how they work (from a functional perspective). Most of this info is generic, but my hope is that those experienced with track/HPD driving can comment on these specific systems in the Surpa, especially compared to other...
awesome! I’m over here too while my car waits for me in the states. Saudi seems like a good place for a high performance car, as long as you know where all the speed cameras are!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone pulled over for a traffic violation here. My drivers regularly pass by police...
No sarcasm, I just wasn’t sure if you had to make changes in the tune to accommodate the intake. Thanks for the reply!
EDIT: also was genuinely interested because most everywhere you read an intake is mostly for sound/looks and adds little, if any HP/Torque.
