The GR GT3 / Lexus LFR looks to be near ready for production. The Celica... Toyota perplexingly seems to be using that nameplate for its new MR2 which has hit this snag.
That is, unless Toyota is actually planning to sell a different chassis with the name "Celica" after all. They should.
The...
I love the super long hood and proportions. Beautiful. Where the Mercedes SLR McLaren had similar proportions, with all due respect to the SLR, this design looks better with them overall.
V8 twin turbo hybrid non-manual is what I have heard since its inception. I think A70 or some news outlet...
Between the next Supra and next Lexus coupe sharing a platform and possibly getting a revised Mazda I-6 as one of the drivetrain options it's starting to feel like the 80's and 90's all over again since the Supra and Soarer historically shared the same platform for at least two generations...
TNGA-L is the only in that series architecture set up for RWD and it's entirely too big and heavy to begin with for a the GR86. There is no way they'd start from that for such a small car.
So either they have developed some new and more compact TNGA RWD capable architecture (or another...
This is what my guess is also. Infuriatingly Toyota has a track record of this with the Supra since GR was founded: First the engine update with a cylinder head that has traditional individual exhaust ports, then the late to release manual transmission.
They *do* need a 2.0L version for better...
Mazda engineers were supposed to have spent some time with the Toyota GR engineers sometime either late last year or very early in this year. Presumably either that would be related to them also using the same vehicle platform for their own performance coupe (since the platform is capable of...
Toyota, Daihatsu and Suzuki are all co-developing a new small (but NOT Kei size) FR two seater platform for the S-FR, new Copen and new Cappuccino respectively. The engine is supposed to be a downsized/de-stroked version of the G16E-GTS and with significantly less horsepower (about 150hp) in...
I thought A70 addressed this also but I can't find the specific post.
I think all it amounted to was that BMW, Toyota and Magna-Steyr had the production timeline fully planned out to its end from the beginning... but as to whether it was primarily BMW's demand for the original end date in 2026...
This is something A70TTR stated on this forum more than once when he was active. He referred to *model year* 2026, not actual year 2026.
That being said, Toyota could just make a lot of "2026" model year MKVs a bit into 2026? No idea there.
If Toyota takes advantage of this I think they may just increase production of 2026 model year Supra MKVs making it a higher number final production year. They already have a "Final Edition" model trim for MY2026 so I don't think we'd see a MY2027 Supra MKIV.
The MKV was always planned to end...
You are assuming that development on the 3rd gen only began in 2025. That does not appear to be accurate given that we've been hearing of the Toyota-led next gen design effort beginning in late October 2022.

That would...
Given that the current BRZ and GR86 are coming up soon against new emission and crash safety standards in certain global markets that the platform and driveline won't be compatible with I wouldn't be surprised if each variant begins to exit the affected markets while remaining available in...
As long as it's a VERY different driving animal compared to a regular Prius, I agree. They should sell such a variant to the public.
However not at the expense of any of the already known upcoming GR models which *may* include a next gen GR86 as a small sport sedan. Further, I *wish* a new...
This is what confused me when I'd seen that the U.S. "Final Edition" had almost nothing significantly different about it mechanically other than some extremely minor suspension tweaks.
Japan *is* getting the version with just a bit more horsepower so I guess they'll price it ridiculously high...
This is exactly what I feel their plan will be and the reasons for it so as to help with sales in heavily taxed markets.
The Supra MKIII also had a 2.0L (1G-GTE M/T & A/T) trim level in Japan for this same reason. Although if the Mazda I-6 is used it'll also be available in Japan. They would...
They definitely want that high output four cylinder turbo out there in many of their vehicles like the Celica, some mid-engine model like an MR2 and Toyota and Lexus longitudinal RWD vehicle configurations. And in lower output tunes the same engine will be in several non-GR regular models.
But...
He was hinting previously that the Mazda 3.3L I-6 turbo and Toyota 1.6L G16E I-3 turbo may be related. As in the *starting point* of one was derived from the other (3.3 / 2 = 1.65).
Either way... doing an in-house G16E x2 = I-6 or a heavily revised existing Mazda 3.3L I-6 turbo... Toyota seems...
They are producing a new Celica (they've said this), seem to be toying with something or other that will be mid-engine judging by the GR Yaris mid engine R&D mule car, and are already moving forward with a next-gen Supra... which is not going to be a standalone vehicle platform or have a...
When I bought my GR86 the one color I wish had been available was yellow. I don't care for the body kit (the premium spoiler, Brembos and Sachs shocks are welcome) but the car really does look great in yellow.
Same for the Supra MKV.
Toyota's partnership with BMW and Magna-Steyr is ending which will can their use of the B58C and B58D engines in new model year Supras soon... but does that necessarily mean Toyota has canned the use of *any* inline six?
Remember when A70TTR first told us that Toyota's internal mandate was to...
