but that isn't a JDM vs Bavaria specific issue, that is a typical NA vs FI cost concern for most any engine architecture... Supra fans have experienced that with the JZ, ain't nothin new from BMW..
if only toyota offered it with a MT variant it would have gotten rid of the majority of the hate... i could seriously care less about the numbers game if they threw us this one bone..still confused how they could market this as a feels good sports car with only an automatic...
Pros
- Exterior design looks great for a 2 seater
- Low CoG
- Seat design
- Digital gauges/HUD
- 0-60 time
- HP/Torque
- Liftback
Cons
- No manual
- Weight
- No manual
- Short wheelbase/2 seater/no backseats
- No manual
- BMW drivetrain
- No manual
- Most everything about the interior design...
shares methodology with 86...yet no manual
a lot of weight savings tech and low CoG....yet nearly 700 lbs heavier than an 86
50/50 weight distribution who cares..hope y'all know that is only achieved when the car is sitting still...
yay for marketing
toyota did great with the exterior design despite the disappointment of going with a 2 seater but the interior is still very meh..the door panels don't even mesh/blend with the dash. and we get much of the same rhetoric as with the gt86..
"not about the numbers" "feels good to drive"...
I think anyone serious about performance would take a fixed wing over a retractable one and no matter what a fixed one will always be lighter and more effective. Look at the LFA, they ditch the retractable wing for a fixed one on the N-ring edition...never once have I seen a serious retractable...
now it definitely seems like you've been forced to be as positive as you can be in order to avoid the banhammer lol....why the hell would they add the weight back in on a pretty useless & bloated feature? only needs a normal wing.
hmm? they did improve small things each model year, specifically with the suspension & interior bits. what else were you expecting? the only disappointed folks were those crying about power..
I'm 99% sure it isn't anything official but it is a pretty rendering.. I'm betting it is just a fan rendering based off the GR Supra Concept...the wheel wells are too big compared to the production mule....compare the panel gaps/lines where the front&rear bumpers/clam shell hood/fenders/side...
why does it matter what goes on behind closed doors when we can all see whether things are being released or not...ever since the partnership was announced back in 2012 or w/e, there have been zero concepts between BMW/Toyota featuring any hybrid tech, whereas Toyota has used a couple BMW...
mentions 4 banger starts at 52 K which matches what BMW has on their German site https://www.bmw.de/de/neufahrzeuge.html and M40i starts at 64 K EUR
um...your point? They may be a bigger/better company but what has that resulted in because they still needed to get a partnership. The hybrid...
bad comparison, don't think any of us want to be driving a boat otherwise we would all have Camaros & Stangs and we wouldn't bickering on this forum about what we want the Supra to turn into.....if it was only as easy as you claim, just make it lighter (already by far the lightest modern 2+2 rwd...
I have a very hard time believing the premium won't affect the Supra. Considering all the stories we've heard about how difficult of a partnership this has been for Tada-san and his team, it would seem very illogical for BMW to also let them sell the Supra with their tech for thousands...
