I agree, nothing like going through gears manually. Some folks are content with an Auto that is for pure speed. Do I like 1000hp+ cars?...of course, who doesn’t? However for me, enjoying a; great handling, powerful enough, manual transmission car is key. Just my take on it.
Right!?!?! What was so “technologically advanced” in this build that was sooooo different than what tuners used 20yrs ago? Other than more efficient turbo’s, higher flowing injectors, and maybe a faster thinking ecu....what is so miraculous about this 20yr gap?
Some things will never change...
So, the DI injectors melted at that much boost?? @Twisted Tuning, do you know if this common with BMW DI motors at high boost levels or specifically these type of injectors? They weren’t actually in use in this case....could that have led to them melting?....no fuel spraying to slightly cool...
Yeah, didn't he mention in a previous video that they would make a bracket or something to always have the cam position at highest position throughout the entire rev range? Not sure if he talked more about that or what it looked like....curious to see what that bracket or stop looks like. Has...
1000hp is ALOT of power for a car weighing ~3300lbs. Why anyone would need more than that for the streets is beyond me. Nonetheless, still badass!
I still want a manual please...
;)
That’s true, maybe I added one too many “many” in my last comment :D. I agree, the 2JZ (just like the small block 350) has a proven history, no one can deny its capabilities. However, my point was that (as I mentioned months ago) the B58 would be at 1000hp in very short time. Sure, folks...
It took many many many years for the 2JZ to develop 1000hp on the stock bottom end. I realize Papadakis upgraded rods and pistons, but in no time, folks will have the stock setup tuned and dialed in, and 1000hp B58's will be had. Now, would I feel comfortable with 1000hp without upgraded...
I could be wrong on that....your right the GT3 may have been the only model during that back and forth transition. I thought the manual transmission went on a hiatus across the board during the time of the GT3 models announcement of no manual transmission. I might have been thinking that...
Not sure if this was posted previously, but FCA has a global platform inline 6 turbo coming soon that will be in many of their cars. Rumors say it will have over 500hp+. Better get moving Toyota...:D
I guess I’m still the only “fool” who believes a manual will be coming in the future...hehe.
Consider this though, Porsche at one point had no manual cars across the board....sales suffered....then the manual returned. Who knows, Toyota may just pull a fast one on us :dunno:;).
No, but if I remember....they did say that the ECU was doing something goofy as the traction control was coming on too early or something. Don’t quote me on that. This thing will be very nice!
I really want an iForce V8 as to keep as much of the restomod Toyota as possible, however, getting an iForce V8 to mate up to an NV4500 or NV5600 is almost impossible without serious fabrication work (CNC adapters, flywheel, clutch, etc...). I am really upset with Toyota in this area as they...
Thanks Craig! Yeah, if I show you my work space at home, you will be shocked at how many FJ40 figurines I have all over the place...lol. I have wanted this car since I was 5yrs old. My dad had one years ago as a work rig, and he put over 500,000 miles on the stock motor. It was rusted to all...
