I’d take a second peek at the R35’s TSB history. :D
Btw, brakes wearing out quickly doesn’t necessarily mean defective brakes. My 2007 IS350 had front pads that wore out at 10k miles. They weren’t defective, just designed that way to reduce noise....people bitched....and Lexus replaced them...
There are over-dramatic stories like this from many people about various sports cars all over the web. I do know that the first gens of the R35’s were the most “problematic” but almost every “problem” has been addressed....and personally, if I get a GTR, a 2017+ will be my choice, most of the...
I feel the same, the more I talk to MKIV owners...the more I feel like if I get a MKIV, I won't enjoy it because I will be too afraid of something happening to it as a weekend/track car. Let's be real, the chances of a track car getting dings and dents and body damage is good. To do that to a...
I don’t disagree with you at all...lol. The few who know me outside these forums, know I go through cars like socks. I get bored with cars quickly. I agree that the MKIV is not the ideal choice, but it’s powerplant and support is defined very well...which means a quicker and cheaper build up...
The R35 is a beast, I have no doubt about this. Every single R35 I have ever driven, has put a big smile on my face....every single one. It's no surprise the fastest guys at 2K events are running GTR's. I have put an offer on a used R35, two MKV's, and one MKIV.
I agree...there’s no doubt...
It’s because you are being yourself....try ACTING like an adult for a change, and not a SF groupie. Maybe then, people might actually have a little respect for what you have to say.
Weren't you suppose to be ignoring me?...or blocking me?
I love the GTR's interior. Seats feel nice, roomy, quiet, and latest tech. Yeah, I don't think the low speed "clunky feel" of the GR6 is a deal breaker, but it's a damn FAST car! I have several friends who own MKIV's and some are obviously die-hard fans and want me to get a MKIV just...
Porsche’s are unbelievably good. A buddy of mine has a 911 Turbo at work, and every time we go for a ride or I get a chance to drive it, it impresses me more and more. Fantastic sports cars! I just can’t seem to find a clean well cared for example within my budget....and I’ve done my homework...
Yeah, I really am impressed with the A90’s acceleration. How do like the seating position while cornering? Do you feel like your having to look over alot when entering a corner?
I was also looking at used 997's, but even used they still fall outside my price range for clean examples. Really like the 997's though.
I drove in one of the first MKV's that were delivered....felt comfortable, and seats are snug. I dunno if it's just me though, but the seats seem to make...
Thanks for your honest opinion! Yeah, I'm leaning towards the MKV too...but all three have their strengths. I’m most hesitant on the MKIV, not because I don’t like it or anything, but because of the age of the platform and OEM parts availability. The GTR is clunky at low speeds I noticed that...
What do you guys think? I won’t disclose my budget, but it’s the final sports car before marriage this summer.
MKV:
- New
- Looks great
- New and modern tech
- Brand new for under $60k
- So far, excellent aftermarket support
MKIV:
- Massive aftermarket support
- Excellent build quality...
Imagine if the aftermarket would have paid this much attention to other BMW powertrains in the past, especially with some of the flaws and nuances of the M engines figured out in the process....my god....we would be seeing stupid numbers (reliably) from those straight six engines and not just...
