Well now, that’s an important and unfortunately good point. Replacing the rears in my BMW did noticeably help, but it isn’t the same amp so I’m not sure the results would be similar. Anyway, thanks for knowing so much useful stuff!

Sorry, yes, rear sides. And yes, that video suggested to me that most any 4” speaker would fit the space behind, but I wasn’t sure. I have some extra BMW speaker pigtails that I bought when I did my M240i, so I hope I can make changing the rear-sides so easy that even a biologist can do it.

I’m in the process of covering the whole box in speaker fabric. I pulled the grills and am going to secure a piece of speaker fabric that’s finished with bias on the edges and held in place with a bit of hook-side of Velcro.

They did. A little wiggle and making sure that the pin was pulled all the way out. I compressed the rivet with fingers so it was as slender as possible when I pushed it in. That made a big difference.
