  1. Toyota "Preparing" Hotter Supra GRMN, Says Chief Engineer

a better comparison than mine haha
  2. Analysis, Comments & Reactions from the Web about the new Supra

In any case, yes Toyota could have built a new Supra in-house for double the current price lol, hence Tada's comments that it could have been done and cost would have been around $100k. It would likely be about the same spec wise (sans I6) as well, for reference. Next to no one would pay for...
  3. Analysis, Comments & Reactions from the Web about the new Supra

I could write a novel on how different they are, but it's not 2009 Nissan vs 2019. The R35 was greenlit in 2001 lol It just took forever in development... There's a reason there's no new GTR or Z atm and it has everything to do with money and a strong shift towards emissions, safety, etc.
  4. Toyota "Preparing" Hotter Supra GRMN, Says Chief Engineer

the car was never planned to be much more than 400ps (although that's not a set number; more of a median) plenty of folks will have cars that already outperform the GRMN by the time it comes out when it comes to all out performance, and Tada knows that. Some folks want to purchase something...
  5. Toyota "Preparing" Hotter Supra GRMN, Says Chief Engineer

yeah, it's not a replacement at all... it's also going to be quite a bit more money and will have absolute emphasis on track performance it's just like the majority of other manufacturers do with the high end models: GTR Nismo, Cayman GT4, Shelby GT350, C7 Z06, etc
  6. Could we expect after market "FT1 Body Kits" for the new Supra?

Let's just say Technocraft, TOM's, and the old guard aren't big fans of TGR. They compete for budgets and attention after all.
  7. Could we expect after market "FT1 Body Kits" for the new Supra?

that car was simply a TRD aesthetic prototype too... that's nowhere near everything planned from TGR. it's going to be like the 86 was with TRD, Modellista, TOM's etc
  8. BMW insider: "385 hp Supra model is coming"

Don't take it so hard; he probably doesn't know how to use his turn signals ;)
  9. 2020 Supra goes 0-60 3.8s & 1/4 mi 12.3s in C&D instrumented test

Wait until they see what it can do out on track. It's such an excellent performer all around, but as said above perhaps we just keep it a secret haha.
  10. 2020 Supra goes 0-60 3.8s & 1/4 mi 12.3s in C&D instrumented test

never saw a timeslip sadly and never asked about the 1/8th or mph. I was happy enough at the time to just hear them say what it did because it wasn't official and it's not something that would ever be released publically. I guess I wish I had asked for more detail though now that you ask.
  11. 2020 Supra goes 0-60 3.8s & 1/4 mi 12.3s in C&D instrumented test

it's all a game, whether for sales/marketing or to satisfy partnerships; the way of the world...
  12. BMW insider: "385 hp Supra model is coming"

The car will receive a power bump, but I never heard months vs years. One of the higher ups said he was thinking it would be around 2 years, and that was back in January but I'd have to check. (I think most of us would expect this sort of thing) I was under the impression that was for the...
  13. 2020 Supra goes 0-60 3.8s & 1/4 mi 12.3s in C&D instrumented test

it already did a 3.8 0-60/12.1 1/4 mile granted that was before it was production ready, but Tada said it had more in it back then...
  14. Our pics from the Supra media launch / drive event at Summit Point Motorsports Park

I'll wait until the reviews post their stuff and then comment further, but it's a great car. It's just a bit unfortunate that it was affected by the commitee in the way it was, but it is what it is. Tada-san's patience and dedication are truly items worthy of praise. That said, overall I still...
  15. Our pics from the Supra media launch / drive event at Summit Point Motorsports Park

Glad you finally got to drive it. I drove one again a few weeks back and enjoyed my time behind the wheel.
  16. Daigo Saito reveals his new 2JZ powered A90 Supra drift car

A complete PITA to say the least. I think someone will do it eventually, but I don't seeing it being viable for a really long time if you're trying to just do PnP lol.
  17. Analysis, Comments & Reactions from the Web about the new Supra

It's better to use yen if you can; Euro currencies have never had a great equivalence in regards to cars. Many times, cars are much more expensive as would be the case with this vehicle as well. The R34 GTR was right around 5,000,000yen new in Japan, hence my 50k statement, but the yen to USD...
  18. Analysis, Comments & Reactions from the Web about the new Supra

~50k in '99 from memory; it definitely wasn't cheap, but it wasn't NSX money either
  19. Daigo Saito reveals his new 2JZ powered A90 Supra drift car

From the Drivetribe article on the subject: "The transformation of the A90 Supra took just 42 days. This included development times too. Saito says he chose the A90 Supra for his 2019 season as it has a short wheelbase and a relevantly small size which means it is easy to control for drifting...
  20. Daigo Saito reveals his new 2JZ powered A90 Supra drift car

Makes very little sense to ship them a production level vehicle just for them to tear it down into nothing. Either they used that car for testing and development prior to stripping it for racing or Toyota is doing some weird stuff. HKS was supplied with more than one car iirc, as where Trust...
