Be curious to see how this pans out in the production model, which is not that far off (2021 model). I had a 4 coupe and it had nice lines from individual angles, but was not cohesive at all. Front/side/back did not flow...
You need to use the Blackvue battery pack and wire to the car on a circuit that cuts power when the engine is off and car's electronics system is put to sleep. That way the camera is pulling power from the Blackvue battery and not the car battery. That is the only way people have avoided...
If it's a port installed option it will be on the sticker (and you'll probably pay too much). Otherwise it can be installed by the dealer (more or less $$, who knows) or you can order the parts online and do it yourself for the lowest cost. It's an easy install.
There may be a setting in iDrive to power everything off when the driver's door is opened (after shutting off engine). My M40i has a few ways to do this, but I set it to power off as soon as I open the door. My other BMWs did not have that setting and would only power down when the door was...
You may be one of the few sane people doing a proper break-in. Many folks do burnouts as they leave the dealership, head to a dyno, head to a track, and then trounce on the car like it's 1999.
Why not paint the reflectors? This is a common mod on BMWs, so common that companies offer pre-painted parts to swap in. I've never done it (they are below my threshold of stuff to fiddle with) but tons of other people do.
I believe the visible grease you are pointing to in the first picture is only there for the o-ring seal on the case. There should not be significant grease packed into that area for lubrication purposes. That is the cavity in the case where the belt runs from the assist motor to the assist...
EAG is way off on this, they are unrelated issues. If their problem is real, it's a new problem and I wish they were being a little more focused on a diagnosis/solution. Trying to lump this in with older BMW EPS problems, and linking to repair kits for different issues, really hurts their...
Front and rear tow hook mounts in the bumpers, though the car only comes with one tow hook so you'd need to source a second one if you use both mounts.
It's likely a BMW battery given that everything else in the car is a BMW part or derived from a BMW part. All the body control modules are BMW so I assume they used the same smart battery system as you described.
It won't matter at this point -- you will need the dealer to clear the error code for the message to go away.
Hopefully the message will go away when the code is cleared. Be careful, don't assume they will replace under warranty if your camera install caused the problem. The batteries are...
Yeah, that guy was wrong and should have known better. The BMW ECU has a very low tolerance for this. You definitely need the separate battery pack on a BMW and also the Supra.
I doubt that kind of person would buy the car. I passed on the Supra because of the transmission issue, and driving one a couple weeks later confirmed my decision. Same powertrain in my M40i and not engaging enough for a proper sports car in my opinion.
If that is true make sure the Blackvue battery pack was installed, so that the camera is not drawing from the car battery when the engine is off. A bunch of people on the BMW forums found out the hard way it's a bad idea.
The times I have commonly seen this on BMWs are:
1) when new cars are in a showroom and somebody either leaves a light on accidentally or there is so much activity with keyfobs that the car electronics are always coming on. One BMW I bought had this problem as soon as we drove it off the...
