If you never tried a mid engine car, I'd say it's something to try once in a lifetime at least, especially a Cayman.
If you want my advice, unless you are doing 15 track days a year and are super experienced, avoid super expensive suspensions like MCS, you'll waste your money on something that...
Would you recommend after a few laps of overdriving to take a few laps of cool down with no braking (like most bedding procedures recommend)?
I realise I sound like a newbie, but I really am not haha. I have ran Hawk DTC30, Hawk HP+, Pagid RSL-29, PFC-11, PFC-08, PowerStop Track Day Spec on...
That's what I did 2 weeks ago, we'll see if it's better on my next track day in 2 weeks. What still does not make much sens to me is that fact it only happens after 10+ minutes of lapping
I own both cars, I've seen them side by side enough. The GR Corolla Rims are concave, they have more spokes and they are wider (8.5" vs 7" for the GR86), that all shows.
For me, that argument has always been somewhat invalid because the Porsche holds a pretty good value, so you are gonna get your money back when you sell it. I always look at the cost of a car in terms of "cost of ownership". Bought my GT4 in 2018, sold it in 2023 for 15k more than I paid in...
As I've had vibration issues with my Project Mu Club Racer pads last track day, I'm debating to swap back to the stock pads for a day to rule out if the pads are the real cause of this issue...
What would you guys recommend to bed the pads at the track? I was thinking to go hard for a few laps...
depends which cayman... I have owned and tracked a Cayman S for 2 years , a Cayman GT4 for 5 years and now the Supra this year.
Ball park: Cayman S < Supra < GT4.
Tires and brakes are expensive on a GT4.
On a Cayman S, you can downsize to 17 or 18 inches tires if you'd like, brake rotors have...
i've had a Cayman S and a GT4, they will certainly be closer to a real sports car than a Supra in stock form. But, as you said, they are not really in the same price range...
you are not wrong, it is just that. It's a GT Car out of the box, just like the Mustang. But it can certainly become much more than that's what you want...!
The weird thing about an E92 M3 is that the engine feels VERY motorsport (like the engine in a GT3), but everything else feels touring (seats, brakes, suspension, etc).
A lot of people seem to have liked the steering, I was never a fan. I came from an E36 M3 before the E92 and then moved on to...
an E9X M3 is not track ready, if you want something as track ready as a supra, be prepared to spend at least 5-6k just to get it to the Supra's level. The Supra is too soft for the track, so it needs upgrades as well, but not nearly as much as the E9X M3.
I've had one 6-7 years ago (2013 E92...
Thanks for all your inputs, really appreciate it.
What does not make sense to me is, why would I be able to lap 10-12 minutes with no real vibration issues and then progressively get more and more vibration for the remaining of the 20min session?
Let the car cool down, go back on track, same...
Pad transfer layer is even and consistent on all rotors... I really don't know what to think about it...
A lot if people said to keep driving and it'll get better eventually, but it seemed to me it got worst the more the day went by....
Tried a few different track pads on different cars over...
For all the track junkies, any of you get vibrations from the rotors after a while on track?
Installed the Project My Club Racer and went to my first track day, and after 10 minutes of lapping I get horrible vibration under braking and always getting worst...
Went to the track shop, asked them...
Confusing as hell... Been doing HPDE for 15 years and never has that kind of encounter...
I even drove with clubs that do not require point bys and that never happened.
