Just thought I’d make a separate thread so others can know about this. A rock lodged in your brake heat shield makes a horrifically loud noise (in my case). So if this grating whining metallic noise that sounds like your dragging a piece of metal happens, have your car checked for this!

How awesome are you guys. It was indeed a rock stuck in the brake heat shield. I was able, thanks to you guys, to suggest that to the service agent.

Had my car towed tonight. It made an incredibly loud metal screeching/grating sound. Out of the blue. What tipped you guys off who have had the transmission leak issue? Was it the sound?
