Sad but true. You are not alone. After a lifetime in Aviation, automotive and motorcycle maintenance and engineering and with just about every relative and friend I have also involved in those worlds there are things and events I just can't unsee or unexperience.

The issue with this discussion and reflected in the topics heading is everyone seems to need to take a side just like everything else these days. The medium to long term future will be a mix of fuel types suitable for the application. As for the "no new ICE cars after 2030" as mandated by the...
Ain't that the truth. I live in a semi rural area and every time it rains half the pebble/gravel driveways here end up on the road for the next month until the traffic sweeps it all away.

Driving a manual is about "engagement" not absolute speed anymore. In the hands of the average to above average skilled driver my money would be on the auto being faster on the track or the strip.
Here's one of my favourite in car videos. Big V8 bellowing away, manual gearbox (and the odd...
Here's something to try esp if you're running it in and short shifting it everywhere. Rev it to 4000-5000rpm in first then change to second and see if it's any better. Gearboxes need some road speed to shift well esp 1st to 2nd. Usually the more road speed you are doing the better they shift...
It's probably the self learning in the ECU modifying the STFT and LTFT ( short and long term fuel trims) Disconnect the battery for 60 seconds or pull the main ECU fuse for a minute this will clear the trims and see if it returns to the original exhaust sounds. It may take a few minutes to...
Here's a tip that might work and commonly used on the 6 speed Tremec gearboxes that can resist engaging reverse especially when new. Just select a fwd gear like 2nd or 4th and then immediately go into reverse. Worked well on the Tremec 6 speeds.

Because it's the "rock of irony" :)
Didn't you notice in the video the wheel moving back and forth slightly? I'm fully rock engaged these days. If it's making a noise ĂŻt's a rock" until proven otherwise, lol.

I don't know what it is these days but anything plastic with regards to QD connectors and wiring connectors seem very fragile particularly on cold weather. To the point where I dread messing with plastic connectors in our winter temps that aren't really even cold at 5-10 deg C. On my bikes it...
This is sure to open a can of worms. The only thing that really needs to "run in" or "bed in" in a modern engine is the piston rings. Everything else is basically wearing out from the first start. The piston rings need combustion pressure to seal and provide the force onto the cylinder walls to...
Could the noise be spring transport wedges not removed? Maybe one dislodged a bit and rubbing? Less than 600klm old car, maybe. Just a thought that came to me.

Nor do I that's why I posted Quote'...... I'm not saying it doesn't happen" Just I've never experienced it it first hand and neither has anyone I know. Maybe it's more a track related issue with hot sticky tyres picking up stones and debris on the edge of the track and pit and track entrance...
I did a tour of the BMW 3 series factory in Munich back in the mid 80's. I had a friend that worked for BMW as a supervisor in the plant that made the press tools for stamping out body panels.
Here's how a 3 series rolled off the production line back then. Driven off the line after the last...
I wouldn't think so but if you take a look at what's in the E brake side of a rear calliper there quite a lot of stuff there. I was thinking it might be more the E brake actuator isn't fully releasing and causing the brake to drag a bit. It's anew car so a rogue component is not unheard of. As...
What I find amazing is that in 50 years driving cars, riding bikes working as an engineer in a professional capacity and engineering cars and bikes in my spare time I've never had an issue with stones caught in brakes. Every friend I have is the same as me, engineering type involved in bikes and...
