What would the point be to a wager? Like my sensible possibility is worthless unless I put money on it? If it's a rock then I'm glad to go with that and happy for the OP but the E brake in my mind is another valid option as well and something to consider esp in a brand new car.
Time will tell...
No we don't BUT oil specs keep changing. The latest SP grade oil is the one to use for a DI engine but I've found it's not readily available yet in grades over XW-30. May well be in the future. I've been using Mobil1 0W-40 for 16 year in just about every vehicle I own including track bikes but I...
More likely to be a rear brake calliper dragging because of a faulty E brake motor/drive assembly not releasing the E brake fully. Take the car for a short drive like to the end of your street and back use the brakes as lightly as possible and see if a rear brake disk is hot.

When you disengage the clutch in neutral a couple of things happen. The crankshaft is loaded from the clutch pedal force and and the crank thrust bearing is now loaded. This is something you won't normally feel though. The main thing is there is a 3 pound clutch friction plate that's now...
Yes you can probably just use Araldite with some black pigment in it or just touch it up with some black paint after. If it's somewhere that your eye isn't constantly drawn to then it should be fine.

Unless thats some sort of weird image then that my friend is not real carbon fibre. You notice the clean break lines and the way it's chipped off with a clean sharp edge. Real CF never does that when it's been damaged as the carbon fibres always stick out and hold the broken resin. I've not only...
You need to read the OP's original post Quote... "anyone know the size of these bolts" and "I'm missing some of the bolts"
The question wasn't what size tool will fit these bolts.
I'm aware of the cross over compatibility of metric and imperial after 45 years of working on Boeing and Airbus...
Yep you can do that. If you are going to upsize the plug the 14x1.5 looks like the most popular drain plug thread size. That means you only need to remove .5 or 1/2 mm from the existing hole with the drill. Should be pretty easy as long as the access is ok. Also make up a tapping guide to get it...
Well without a dipstick tube I cant see any way to use the extraction method. Might be a good idea to buy yourself an intermediate tap of the correct thread dimension and pull the drain plug. Run the tap through the sump threads and see how it goes.
Drilling the plug threads and fitting a...
Well it's easy to talk big but the question is valid and worth asking. Before you start testing oil you need to ask yourself what am I going to do if the results come back with question marks?
If you are prepared to strip the engine or flip the car then test away, if not then you're just kidding...
Well then that seems like a good weight choice for the track and conditions. The other thing I was musing on with regards to oil viscosity and people with oil consumption issues is apart from the obvious possible benefit to consumption running a heavier hot spec oil is whether the grade of oil...
I've often wondered what you would do with oil analysis results that didn't come back all good. I know precisely whats involved in oil analysis as I've done them all my working life on big gas turbine engines on commercial jets. We would sometimes pull and engine and send it to the shop to be...
I can't see how running a heavier oil will have any beneficial affects on engine oil temperature at a track day. Does anyone have any actual measured or technical data on the ability of a 20 weight oil to absorb/carry less heat from hot components compared to a 30 or 40 weight. I've looked for...
