This is a major mistake. never take samples from the bottom of the sump always mid stream. I've had plenty of experience monitoring cooling systems over the years and this is what I would do. If you are going to keep doing analysis then next time send a sample of unused oil left over from the...
I don't understand why you are measuring the drop over a 2 hour period when the manual calls for a 2 minute test like most other cars do? You might want to consider that the volume of air in the header tank is very small so the pressure is going to vary noticeably with small temp changes and...
I've noticed a trend in recent years on other brands and maybe Toyota is the same that many of these retaining clips and like hardware are prone to breakage more in the cold weather than the warmer months. Even here at winter temps of 5-15 deg C they seem far more fragile than in summer at 25...
Deserving's got nothing to do with it it's engineering. I'm betting you didn't use 2K paint back in the 80's on your Civic. More likely rattle can engine enamel. You need to open your mind to proven alternatives. You can get a superior quality of finish and just as good durability in this...
Why not just spray the originals in 2K matt or gloss black. 1/2 hour prep time and a $25 can of 2K paint. Just as durable as powder coat if not more so and you can do it at home. Paint one day and fit again then next.

Yea except the frequency of the wheel vibration/runout at 120kph will be around 20Hz not 46Hz
(which they attribute to tailshaft vibration frequency ay 100kph) as stated in a previous post. In addition to that other posters have already indicated that a change of tyres made no difference...
Interesting but not surprising. Resonant vibrations are felt when the component generating the vibration interacts with another component with the same natural resonant vibrating frequency. All components have their " natural" resonant frequency and if the generated frequency aligns with another...
I've chased down this exact issue in other makes of cars and they are frustrating to say the least which is why the vibration tool I posted looked useful. Before I thought of dumping the car because of this issue I would remove the tail shaft and send it to a tail shaft...
Great Aussie product from Melbourne Australia. I remember them trying to break into the international racing scene via British touring cars maybe 25 years ago or so and nobody would use them as they were so cheap to buy. The racing world over there couldn't believe something so cost effective...
It's a simple restrictor port in the clutch line. Easily removed. Plenty believe removal is the path to shifting nirvana. I have my doubts but I've never seen a blind test to verify the claim and a blind test is the only test worth a damn in my view.

That sounds like a Tremec T56 selecting reverse when cold. Wont go into reverse until you select a fwd gear and then reverse will go in fine. I wonder if you have a bit of clutch drag and you need to bleed the clutch.
Phil
How quickly are you engaging first gear. If slowly then it's probably the syncro spring releasing the syncro sleeve or the syncro sleeve teeth aligning with the gear engagement teeth. You should just depress the clutch and shove it into first gear in one direct and assertive motion not try and...
Cold shifting issues isn't uncommon in manual transmissions. I've had a few over the years that needed to be warmed up before shifting was ok. The Holden M21 wouldn't shift into second at all until it had 5 or 6 klm on it in cold weather. A lot of people just changed over to ATF to solve the...
Isn't the recess just a thin cast ring around the plug? Hence my thoughts on grinding a section of the cast ring away creating a slot in it for the banjo and AN fitting.
Phil
My idea is a 16mm banjo fitting on the oil drain plug and an AN-6 or 8 fitting and hose to a rigid dipstick tube. You could drill the centre of the 16mm banjo bolt and thread it to take maybe an 8mm bolt for oil drain purposes so you didn't need to disturb the banjo assembly every time. Looks...
As long as there are no overheating issues and the coolant level in the header tank remains stable for a given cold engine temperature then you can be pretty confident the system is correctly bled. I have in the past had to monitor coolant levels on engines carefully and it's important to get a...
