yeah, ford said that they felt aluminum was not a sufficient material by itself when using forced induction.
I actually like Ford quite a bit, at least WAY more than GM and FCA.
it's gonna be a successful car, just for different reasons than what the A80 guys demand this car should have been lol
HKS was dropping hints the other day btw.
JZ blocks are gray cast iron iirc
^ was not aware of that and could not find any information on it? Any links for some good reading?
EDIT: found, Toyota 1VD-FTV. neat!
Tada has already gone around and consulted some of the aftermarket, and he will likely go even harder on release.
Part of the reason the ZN6 had so many parts available right around launch was early access and support from Toyota.
You can just sleeve the block/build the bottom end like GTR owners do, but yes that's part of the reason for the new motor.
So you can have faith in the motor the car comes with.
yeah, i think that comment about the door vent and brake cooling might have been a mistake and he was instead speaking to using the front and hood vents which make far more sense.
But I wasn't there and i don't really rank confirmation on vents as high on my list lol.
yep, exactly.
Shibetsu, wind tunnels, and other more shielded areas provide plenty of data to make necessary changes and improvements. There are still plenty of components that need to be tested in the real world though, so you usually get that at some point depending on what it is.
the most advanced versions/secret variants of this car have been testing at Shibetsu afaik.
that said, they generally road test them all within the confines of information security etc.
technically yes, as the car has been tested with them closed, but that doesn't necessarily mean the car couldn't still function at near full potential.
there are a lot of factors in there.
he might have also wind tunnel tested the vents open and tried to balanced things somewhat in favor of...
I just wanted to stir the pot a bit, since Tada loves doing it so much haha. I can't say anything remotely helpful though aside from that (maybe eventually, but long ways out).
I wouldn't share any of it on any Lexus forum though. No reason and I don't have much of an emotional connection to...
the motor sits far back in there for sure, but thats interesting on the side vent thing.
I haven't asked about it specifically, but the pics sure seemed to show a closed off vent... that, and he said the front ones are closed but can be removed by owners. odd...
