Bottom-up engineering vs Top-Down I suppose. They start off as 3-series then get the M treatment, not the other way around. Sometimes that doesn't work out so well. They, of course, aren't the only people that operate this way, but it's this type of process that opens the door for oversight like...
When I was 12, I sat in the back of my brother's MKIV from Dallas to Houston, roughly about 4-5 hours drive. It is still to this very day, the most uncomfortable I've ever been in my entire life lol.
Yeah that's fair. AWD plus automatic box indeed does make it very accessible. Supra will be RWD, and hopefully have a mechanical LSD, so hopefully it'll be scary when you need it to be lol. FWIW my brother's Giulia QV is a similar formula, ZF8 and 500hp TT V6, and it's scary af to drive with...
I feel like there's something lost in translation here lol; with the Fast and Furious thing too lmao.
Also, I just want to say, I'm about the farthest thing from a Nissan fan, but the GTR has loads of feel IMO. Steering is great and the chassis really loves to be thrashed. The only thing that...
I've had the pleasure of driving a E46 M3 and breaking the rear subframe clean off the body.
That car receives far too much praise in my opinion. It's a car that only gratifies you at 7-10/10ths. In light to medium load it's a dog with over-assisted steering and marginal feel.
Exactly right, suspension design is far more variable in its practical application than a simple classification describes. Of course, the camber curve and strength is the biggest advantage of a double wishbone design, but space, weight, and cost are all potential advantages with a MacPherson...
Sounds good to me Tada san, now can we drive it please? :D
Seriously though, the descriptions that Tada san gives in these interviews are pretty on point with what (I think) most of us want. Just wish there was some hard numbers to go along with it.
I meant clamshell in the sense that the hood and fenders are one piece and the wheel well/liner is exposed when the hood is open. This style of hood is nice because you can't scratch up the fenders when you're fixing your VANOS :p
Previous Gen Z4 for example:
I believe you are correct. However, I guess this does give us a first look at some of the structure of the chassis. I'm sure it's fairly modified, but the reinforced shock towers and big trans tunnel are interesting. Also, we can see clearly that it's a clamshell design.
399hp/350lbft is respectable. Q60 is a real lump though, with the 3.0 Sport RWD weighing in at 3855lbs. So we'll see how much fat Nissan can actually trim.
Won't lie, I had tears as the #7 & #8 weaved through the pack to get to the finish. Been waiting too damn long for this. Then I promptly passed tf out lol. Can only imagine the stress the team goes through! It's really a 48 hour race for them.
