Exactly right. I figure its more an exercise in garnering public opinion than anything at this point. Clearly, there was a very strong response across the board and I think that this information is more useful to Toyota than us just chit-chatting with nothing to really talk about.
As far as how...
While I haven't given up hope yet, turbo for my BRZ would probably be 8k when its all said and done with a tune, making just about 400hp/315lbft. I have about 100lbs of sound deadening in my garage that I have been meaning to install, and even with all that curb weight will still be under...
Yeah, he said just under 40k GBP and the US version will get 382hp while the Euro-spec is 335hp. Not sure where the mid to high 60k USD number comes from, but more than one publication quoted it, so I'm guessing they said it at the presentation.
Nope, nothing yet. Been digging, but I got no info from anyone. This late in the game though, they have to have already gotten the colors finalized more or less. I'll keep asking around.
New M5 comes with a very nice RSP-esque blue, called Marina Bay Blue Metallic. If we do get BMW colors...
Have you driven any of the Teslas? They are in no way, shape, or form sports cars. Nor are they really comparable.
Let me preface by saying, I am a big fan of electric vehicles, and more power to anyone who owns a Tesla. BUT...
-They all have terminal understeer, which is fine for a regular...
Hero color for the Supra is Red btw. Likely similar to the FT-1 red, but maybe a simpler mix (ie. less show-car-y.) I'm just hoping we get a good dark blue. The Yas Marina/Light Blue on some of the Z4 mules is nice too though.
This is my main beef with the details as well, as it implies that the motor is the same as the Z4. Now, of course, we haven't fully confirmed that the Z4 uses the B58, but several journalists did say it was.
Toyota is more or less on press lockdown regarding the Supra right now, as they should...
With the 86 being a somewhat similarly sized, decently equipped, very safe car at 2760lbs, you can imagine why many of us believed we could get something with 2 more cylinders, turbos, and some more features at a 300-400lb increase in curb weight.
MKIVs biggest vice was weight too. And maybe...
Smart man, I definitely subscribe to this ideology as well.
If there's one thing that this thread demonstrates though, it is that we all really want Toyota to succeed here. We might have different ideas of what that might be, but all in all there's a general hole in the market (and our hearts)...
Agree to disagree about the 86 being a flop, BUT, in the guise that the Supra was given here, it looks worse than an 86 if I'm being honest.
This was my thinking as well. Sorry if it's all just FUD guys! I'm just trying to keep your evenings exciting. :p
I want to just reiterate, this information is not from a vetted source and not from myself or any of our forum insiders.
I do not know if this some sort of misinformation strategy or even an elaborate trolling, but the background checked out and so here is the info presented as it was given to me.
My thoughts: Underwhelmed.
While this info is valid, it is not certain, and things like the weight seem far enough off from our estimates to either be exactly right, or totally wrong.
Judging from the power and torque numbers, I would say that the motor is suggested to be identical to the one...
