  1. Toyota may build Supra convertible / targa instead of 86 convertible

You do see the irony here right?
  2. Toyota may build Supra convertible / targa instead of 86 convertible

I've never paid more than 25k for a Supra. A decade ago you could get clean turbo cars for 18-20k all day. Nowadays that's definitely not possible, so you have to be very patient to find the right one. I remember paying 15,500 for this beautiful thing many years ago
  3. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

Awesome! This was a very telling interview IMO. Fortifies everything that @A70TTR has been telling us, and I think confirms that we'll be getting an auto out the gate and a possible mid-cycle refresh with a manual if the demand is there.
  4. Toyota may build Supra convertible / targa instead of 86 convertible

Stiffness, stiffness, stiffness (and weight). Once you feel how much sharper the car is with a roof on it, it's tough to go back. One of the main reasons why I was anti sunroof/targa/convertible during the 86 development was for the same reason, and that chassis is an absolute masterclass in...
  5. Toyota may build Supra convertible / targa instead of 86 convertible

After owning 10 targa TT MKIVs, I drove one hardtop NA and immediately regretted not getting hardtops since day 1. Hardtops are best tops.
  6. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

Okay, so I have a quick and dirty translation/synopsis for about 20minutes worth of this interview, from none other than the OG, @ichitaka05. We'll try to get the rest of it out soon, it's a long interview!
  7. The Lexus LC500 & LC500h, Plus LC-F Talk

I think it's more an Aston competitor than a GTR competitor. It's a luxury supercar. Not necessarily a performance car.
  8. Toyota FT-1 concept & A90 Supra design dissected

The F1 nose was never going to last, I don't think it's even possible with how pedestrian safety laws are these days. I think it morphed into something pretty handsome, if a little conservative. I wish the hood was more sculpted, but I realize that having an inline 6 means that the height of the...
  9. Toyota Racing Reveals the NASCAR Supra!

Yeah they're just namesakes. Basically just for advertising. The cars themselves are all tube frames with pushrod V8s, 4-spd Manuals, and McLaren electronics funny enough.
  10. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

Moto-San translated that one for us. I'll link him this one and see if he has time to take a look.
  11. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

While I don't speak Japanese, one of the YouTube comments, when Google Translated, says: "MT believers many though For both GTR and NSX MT, Toyota is making 86 for those who want to drive MT I wonder what you are not satisfied with" So I'm guessing they touch on the lack of Manual and how there...

    They're relentless!
  14. Random Thoughts Thread

Took care of the spam! Sorry gents!
  15. Petition To Toyota For Manual Transmission.

Let's not forget Sasaki-San. He was there for 86 and now Supra as well as Tada-San's right-hand man. I think he's at GR now (I'm pretty sure he headed the GRMN Yaris), but nevertheless, a talented engineer with plenty of his career ahead of him.
  16. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

You know what, this makes the NA I6 base model rumor make a lot more sense now. If Toyota is developing this new motor to have better control over engineering and reliability/serviceability, then having a fully BMW I4 as the base model would essentially nix that entire endeavor for 30-50% of the...
  17. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

Soooo, somebody mentioned this to me in a hush hush way lol. They were like, the engineers have been constantly talking about strength and tuning potential, which is very uncharacteristic of something an OEM would talk about in this day and age. I know Tada-San talked about what he learned from...
