My 2cents...
Here are the different struts / coilovers I have used over the years:
- Apexi
- KW v3
- Ohlins R&T
- HKS
- Cusco
- JIC
- BC
- Koni
- H&R
- Bilstein B16
- Fortune Auto
- MCS 2WNR
My least favorite where KW and BC. I was actually faster on track with $950 Apexi coilovers than I was...
100% stock suspension with no camber plates or arms? I'm also assuming since you are asking in a track thread, you will be tracking the car...
In my opinion, I would always aim for more front negative camber than rear, so with the stock suspension, get whatever you can up front, and make sure...
Once you have the bucket setup properly you could easily swap it in/out with the OEM seat. Just buy an extra oem belt buckle to put on the bucket so you don’t have to swap that out either.
That was actually my plan but I ended up just keeping the bucket in all the time. IfI drove the car more...
Did I kill this thread by being too honest?
@Todday1 I think everyone appreciates that you started this thread and contribute. If what I stated is keeping you away, I apologize. I can turtle my emotions.
Curious why you are going that way and not MCS for not much more. Even the 1way MCS are probably superior and basically the same price as those generic mystery coilovers. Hell, why not Ohlins?
Some unsolicited feedback here. Some of your posts in this thread come off a little holier than thou and condescending.
This whole last season of over twenty track days the car only had brake, tire, and suspension upgrades. I set it up how I like it based on over twenty years of track...
It doesn't. Same calibration as others. Do you know what gear you have dynoed in?
The 2020's are different as they are about 40-50whp down on 21+ from 5,500rpm on. That is my drivers excuse when 21's are faster than me on track. ;)
Yes, the ECU goes by target torque/load. Boost going up/down is just a by-product.
No matter the calibration, stock or tuned, the boost will be different day to day, depending on ambient etc. However, the torque/load targets will be the same.
Let's say you are targeting 500 Nm at 4,000rpm...
Totally get the ethanol strategy. I actually ran E20 the last couple events with stock tune. The ECU is fully capable of running that stock with no issues.
I still will stand by those dynos being off. Either that or you have a factory tuned Supra. ;)
That would make more sense. Just those bolt ons and running E30 on the stock ECU calibration wouldn't gain 40-50whp. The oem ECU is load/torque based so even with higher airflow and such, there will be a cap on gains. The E30 would help ignition timing being pulled but that wouldn't magically...
