If I could do it over I would have put an LSx in it last time just to make easy. I had clueless people asking if it was a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, and Porsche. It was kind of fun.
My wife always thought they were ugly cars and didn't care much for mine. It wasn't running when we met, then I...
I had one up until a couple of years ago. Went through 2 engines, finally got it back together just in time for it to get covered in hail damage. The times that it ran though, it got more looks and comments than any other car I've owned.
It shifts pretty terribly and holding power is a known issue with it as well. If it's good enough for the 320hp Mark X though, I'm not sure what the problem is with putting it in the IS350. Again, I'm sure it's just a case of marketing/accounting saying it wasn't worth putting the option out...
Don't know why they couldn't put that transmission in the IS350 also if it went behind the 3.5 in the Mark X. My 2nd gen was a 250 because the 350 was auto only.
The way things are going, the 90's just might make a comeback; just without the manual transmissions that I want. :p
This Honda, the Mazda RX, and the FT1 would all look amazing together.
All the big magazine sources were saying Tokyo. Detroit makes more sense with CALTY's involvement, but they also teased a 2017 showing in that video like a year ago. I'm thinking Tokyo will still have a preview, but the production version will come to Detroit.
I can definitely see the appeal with the transmission. I'd still prefer a manual, but it's kind of interesting. Porsche/VW had a similar idea in the '60's that was actually put to use in the 911 (as well as 912 and very few 914s - and some VW's, don't remember which)...
Looks awesome to me, along with the City EV. I'd drive both of those. But they look nothing like Honda's current design language. The "concept" is the idea; if we see an actual product it's going to be another ugly Honda.
They also told us there was a 4 door version of the 86 that got the green light (https://www.motoring.com.au/toyota-plotting-86-sedan-39370/) and got my hopes up about this nice looking FR hatch (https://www.motoring.com.au/toyota-86s-little-brother-exposed-45381/), which looking back I guess...
There may be some truth to that, but I mostly think that's just what people say to validate Toyota's decisions. Maybe it's a little more true on a vehicle like this, but every other vehicle they make fits nicely into its segment.
My example of the Lexus IS F Sport; Yes, Toyota has proven that...
