Maybe start with the DOT4 fluid (Castrol SRF, Motul RBF600 -- I think, pls correct me if I'm wrong, and Endless RF660 are the ones commonly mentioned), since the brake feel will change. Once you're comfortable with less sponginess, Hawk, Endless, CSG, or Project Mu pads would be a good next...
To be fair, the Brawn team bought out the midfield Honda team for 1 pound after Honda left due to the 2008 economic crisis, and replaced the Honda engine with a Mercedes engine which worked as a 1-season wonder, along with the double diffuser. The chassis was also being developed much earlier...
It gets a lot of hate in multiple sports. Because of the massive success of the energy drink, they've been able to buy and grow teams from amateurs/minnows to top tier teams in multiple sports very quickly (German soccer has RB Leipzig -- Red Bull stretched the rules a bit to get this soccer...
100% fine for me on the street as well. Maybe it's the fluid? I didn't have any issues since I was using Endless fluid as well, as opposed to Motul. I'm attributing the initial bite feel to the fluid rather than the pad since I got the wrong size rear pads and had to wait for replacements, so I...
This was more to the fluid, but the bite was much better and linear, no sponginess. The pad itself will dust more, obviously, but also did decently shorten the necessary braking distance on the track. I don't know the exact recommended braking zone length for turn 1 at the Ridge where we need to...
While a manual Supra is undoubtedly fun, I feel as if the Supra's boatload of readily available torque makes it not as great a choice for a manual. At least for street driving, it's basically "keep it above 1800rpm and the car will pull". Not to mention the ZF8 in manual + sport mode is...
I like that with the 19s, I have a fairly flush fitment without spacers. One of my buddies had a wheel almost come off because of thermal expansion of his spacers shaking the lugs loose (not a Supra) so it's nice to have a wheel which achieves the flush fit with no additional hardware.
Drove a Rivian R1T -- my buddy who owns it wanted to autoX it along with his Porsche, so I volunteered to drive it down to the airfield while he took the Porsche. It's quick, especially on the highway and a nice city vehicle, but when he drove it on the autoX, it was downright scary. Even with...
@WSUPRA and I did an economy run on our way to the track last year (his is a '20 3.0, mine is a '21 3.0 with some bolt ons). He got 38-39 mpg and I got 35-36 for the ~100 mile highway trip going between 60-80mph. Fuel economy differences are really negligible.
Really only ever had a modded Evo X and a 5.0 Mustang actually try to race me on the highways. Evo X was close because it was raining, but got the pull on it once I got some proper grip.
Mustang was left in the dust lol.
Bit tangential, and not a racing story, but there is a guy in the area who has a Volvo 850 with a BMW V8 swap and racing seats that was imported from Italy. Thing is an absolute monster to look at during C&C.
It feels light and nimble, very similar in weight to the 911.2 GT3. I got a ride in a friend's 981 Cayman GT4 and I felt it harder to notice the 400 pound difference between the Supra and GT4 than it was to feel the similar weight difference between the Supra and GTR.
I really think Toyota did...
I did one of those lapping sessions with exotic cars in Vegas and did 5 laps in a GTR, and IMO, it wasn't as fun as the Supra, or even the Corvette or 911 GT3 that I also lapped that day. You can definitely feel the weight as you said, and between the AWD and all the computerization, it doesn't...
