There's special PPF for matte paint. If you're set on getting a matte car, you should pony up for the PPF. The paint on the car is extremely thin.

If it is wiring, that can be hard to find or beyond what techs are allowed to do in terms of taking the car apart. It brings up a good question: what is a Supra-certified tech actually certified to do?

OP did state they changed the sensor and the issue was still there. Perhaps it could be some damaged wiring somewhere along the line that the tech didn't check. Saw no mention of that.

The part that failed was the BCM, which is effectively another ECU. They're meant to last the lifetime of the car (extremely high mean time to failure), so its not a part that readily needs replacements; profits or not, the emphasis for replacement parts go to items that are expected to break...

Did you need to jack the car up to install these, or remove/cut anything? Just curious to see if I can do this in my garage or if I need to get the car to the local DIY garage for more tools and lift access.

The battery isn't hard to access at all. It's an easy to remove cover. Just curious, how much do you actually need to use the trunk? I had the same issue last year, even with my car as a grocery getter, and the passenger seat was good enough.
