A few occasions I have been driving and noticed with constant throttle % (around 60%) in 3rd, the additional power would surge on and off a couple times thru the revs. (almost like the tune flipped on and off) This was with the dial maxed out and 3 gallons e85 mixed into 93. It hasn't done it...
Its a pretty basic device. Just under-reporting your boost pressure and letting your DME compensate for fuel. Only downside is occasional hesitation when the DME can't compensate quickly enough.
It is still the best horsepower per dollar of any mod for this platform, hands down. Catless...
Only Mk5s I've seen around me are @GhostSZN and a yellow car owned by an older woman who didn't even acknowledge me sitting at the light next to her ?
I probably see 10 C8 vettes for every Mk5. Maybe more.
No shame in it, and I don't consider it a waste of time. Keeps your mind sharper than watching TV or Youtube anyway.
As for my favorite game... My love of cars likely stems from playing the Gran Turismo games growing up. 4 and 5 stand out the most to me, can't decide on the fave. Always used...
Yep. The S58 is a beast, but I don't really see the point in needing more than 500whp (FBO) unless you are drag racing. B58 is a good balance for the chassis (and sounds far better)
Also, I will say that the BMW S motors scare me a bit. Over the generations: rod bearings, crank hub, etc. I like...
Great choices. Rocking the typical HD600s/Schiit stack for 7 years now - still love em, though prefer to use my Studio 530s as a near-field setup nowadays.
One expensive hobby at a time and the new Supra is taking priority ?
I think, realistically, all we get until 2026 is new color options/special editions. Even think it is a stretch for the car to get a Gen3 B58, let alone an S58. Maybe I'm just being a pessimist, but I don't suspect this BMW-Toyota platform is very profitable to begin with. R&D funding is likely...
@zrk , What is "sport traction"? I am trying to figure out if one tap TC button is fully off or just reduced TC intervention. I know that holding it turns everything off.
My car seems to hook up nicely flat out in 1st after 1 tap TC button, but chirps the tires on the 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd shift...
Sounds good!
Just to confirm, you have a JB+ made for the Supra and not the generic B58 one? I remember reading a thread where someone's car was behaving strangely because they had the wrong unit.
They seem to get delivered in batches. I had "ordered" mine in October '22, stopped seeing any deliveries/inventory from November to early January, and mine showed up in the system mid January. Just my own experience, but a month without any new inventory doesn't seem unusual.
Yup its a perfect spot for balance. Adding more power than that starts to require a lot more $$ in supporting mods. It now feels similar in acceleration to a G80 M3 I drove last year, and that's all I needed.
Make sure your tank is nearly empty if you do 3 gallons, otherwise follow the 1:3 ratio.
Yes, 93 is plenty for the default setting. If you turn the dial to max, it should be fine too, but E would help.
Couldn't find BMS's recommendation on their website, but adding 4.5 psi of boost is a pretty significant amount to be on 91. I believe the default position for the JB+ is intended...
Drop in power could be timing pull since you're on 91. Like others said, put 2-3 gallons of E in and the max setting on JB+ should be fine.
Funny enough, the power hesitations that started happening with my JB+ ended up just being traction control. With sport traction on, there is no doubt at...
I have driven ZF8 cars (G80/etc) and its great, but for me, the Supra was manual or nothing. I would have bought the Z otherwise.
I suspect this will be the last new manual car I will ever buy, and I wasn't missing that chance.
Glad I could help. Wrote more about ethanol blending with it in another thread too if interested.
TLDR: up to e30 works fine on JB+ and helps with power consistency.
