I see a few when I visit Pal Park as well. There is a guy in pal park who owns one and I always pass by just to see it on his driveway lol
We’ll probably cross paths at some point as I drive around here all the time! I wish you only happy miles and good luck in avoiding all those pot holes. Remember to wave back lol

Ditto what the last couple of people said here. I’m older and wiser now but had imposter syndrome for years despite having multiple degrees and accounting certifications. I worked my A## off to get where I am today but distinctly remember a conversation with my wife where I openly questioned why someone would want to hire me for 50% more than the job I was leaving. I felt out of sorts for months but learned from the experience. Now I often counsel my younger staff to let those feelings go and do the best job they can while enjoying the rewards that come with it. Note: I literally just had that conversation today with a young new hire who is the first person in his family to earn a degree and is making more than both his parents combined even though it’s his first post-college job. Only you know the trade offs you have to make to afford it, but I say let it go and enjoy your Supra!

As for extended warranties…if you do decide to buy one (and have no plans to mod your car), go through Jennifer (she moved to a Lexus dealer but is easy to find) or Jerry at Midwest Superstore. Both will beat any local dealer offers by A LOT and they only sell Toyota backed extended warranties. I tend to drive cars for well over 100K miles and have done OK with extended warranties on Fords, Hondas Nissans…I know it tends to be the exception but I like knowing I can drive my cars while the amount I’ll pay for repairs is a fixed amount for whatever mileage warranty I decide to buy. As for the Supra…it’s made by BMW so I’m assuming I’ll have to fix something serious well before I hit the 120K mileage mark (I bought a 10 yr 120K mile warranty from Jennifer).
This is great food for thought, thank you. I'll definitely put it into practice in my own way

I'll be in town to see the gf on thanksgiving. I'm gonna avoid Newark and Jersey City roads all together. Forget about it!!

If it makes you feel any better I just turned 23 and currently I make a little less money than you. I got a good deal on my car and jumped on it. Simply enjoy the Supra and try not to overcomplicate things. Enjoy ?.

I worked my a** off at work for 6 months and saved money to put down on a brand new C63s when I was 24. Much more expensive. Don’t feel bad. People gave me crap. I just told them to work harder. I was proud of my accomplishment and loved the car. Then I just kept going after that.
Age isn’t really important. Just do what makes you happy. So long as you aren’t driving like a 19 year old that didn’t have to spend a dime on his nice car lol

I bought my Supra at 24, you're good bro. Let the fruits of your labors show with your car. If people hate, it's either out of envy or jealousy. Fuck em. Let em hate, worry about yourself and that's all that matters in the end.. people were blown away when i first took my Supra off the lot because they saw i was a youngin. That's just how it's gonna be cause our cars look like exotics. Enjoy it bro, trust.

And fuck the extended warranty lol, i denied everything the finance manager tried to throw at me. My car has been solid for the past 33k miles.. ??

This is my first sports car, coming from a 2022 civic sport touring hatchback. ANY tips on handling and owning a sports car is appreciated!

I just took it home today, the finance manager spent 30 min trying to convince me to buy extended warranty. I declined on all his offers, not sure if that was the right move or not. Car drives great and its actually way too easy to speed in this car.... Im financing it for 23k and hopefully will pay it off by next year. I make around 5k a month give or take so its not impossible...

I am just making this post because I am having severe imposter syndrome right now. I don't feel like I deserve to have this car, and my age adds pressure to it. I've been obsessing over this thing since 2019 and i've always told myself to keep pushing and work harder JUST to be in this car someday. Well, im here now with it..and I feel pretty depressed ngl lol. I thought I would feel happier but I just feel alone..? I'm sure as time passes by ill feel the love setting in but earlier I felt like i wanted to cry because I just feel guilty bro, like what the hell?
You feel guilty because you know the value of money.

edit: also brodie… you seem to have your head in the right place. There are people getting this shit on a 50k salary with $0 down and 12% interest. It sounds to me like you’re financially responsible. This feeling is natural when you know and understand the value of your time.

The only reason to feel you don’t deserve a thing is if you aren’t fulfilling basic duties like feeding your family, providing shelter, providing for your kids - and importantly but often neglected when young - saving and investing for your future. If ALL those are covered - ENJOY.

Your young, and want to live a bit, so I say all that above and will also say you only live once - but really save and invest!;)

i was also like you when I was 18 and bought my first "sports" car, a 2013 FRS lol. Definitely took it slow as it was my first manual car, but somehow its still alive today (back at home in NJ, in ridgefield actually) but I also ended up getting a hawkeye STI, mustang gt, and now a supra. Definitely had some humbling moments, but my advice would be to let things sink in and really enjoy the car for what it is. I see too many people my age just flex that they have a nice car all day which is fine but I really like to take my time and enjoy driving them :) I should be moving back to palpk sometime next year so I'll probably cy'all around!

gotcha, I saw a gang of 3 different colored Supras in Edgewater on river rd a couple weeks back. Our numbers are growing!!
idk if this still goes on, but in 2021, every time I visited family in NJ, at mitsuwa I'd see a line of supras. Not sure if thats still a thing though
