Welp, I suppose as an update, finally made it out to track at Gateway. Car is fast as fuck even in current form. Beat my PB in the S2000 by 2 seconds and there's a whole lot more left in it. Absolutely no rubbing on track with 275+27 in front and running -3.0* camber. Everything else went smooth. EBC RPX pads were surprisingly decent for getting them on short notice. Only problem was getting stuck behind slow corvettes.

I am about to go through the same fitment issues as I have obtained a 2026 Supra Track Edition in Australia (Final for you guys) and this is one of the most informative threads I have read for fitment on a near stock car to be tracked as a square set.
I also don't want to be rubbing on a new car but want to max out what I can legally do in the class I intend to run in.
The only difference for me is in the class I want to run in I have to stay on factory diameter wheels and allowed 1 inch wider. SO that means I will run 275/35/19 square set on 4x Factory 19x10 wheels. In theory is 2mm smaller diameter than your 275/40/18 setup.

I was looking at the HKS HAS kit for clearance and camber plates just as you have.
Is this all you fitted to make it work?

Also when you say +27 offset for the wheels, is that the true effective offset of the wheel with spacers?
Is this the front?
What is the effective offset on the rears?
Trying to work out the spacers I need to buy for the OEM 19x10+40 to have similar results.

  • Only suspension bits I've done is the HKS HAS kit and Verus camber plates. Running F/R -3.0/-2.5 camber. I picked the numbers as a ball park from friends but so far the wear on the tires have been spot on. I do have a bit more range to adjust, like 1-2 mm before the shock might start binding against the tower. I left the ride height at preset settings but did make some adjustments on one side to even it out side to side. Hub-center to fender height is roughly 333 mm in the front and 348 mm in the rear. The stock HKS setting does have some rake which I personally like.
  • The wheels are 18x11+40 and I run a 12.5 mm spacer in front and a 15 mm spacer in back. I don't think they're necessary for inboard clearance, I just like the more aggressive look. I have run up to a 15 mm spacer in front and 18 mm spacer in back and didn't have issues on the street but didn't feel like pushing it on the track.
  • FWIW I have a friend running 18x10+30 and 275/35/18 Nankang CRS with a 5 mm spacer in front at stock height with front crash knuckles (around -2.0 front camber) and he clears with out issue either. I think the main shock perch issue with 275s comes from the extra stretch of 18x11s. He is running the shorter 35 ratio but from pics I don't think the shorter side wall height actually changes clearance much at the perch.
I do need to make one correction about rubbing. I should have mentioned that I did briefly rub ever so slightly on the front bumper right here.

That said it self-clearanced quickly and was only an issue going up my drive way. The interference was likely very mild because I didn't hear anything, the only evidence was a small smear on the tire. After a couple times I no longer rub and I haven't worried since so I kind of forgot to mention it.

Also as you can see I haven't chewed up my liners at all so no major interference issues so far.

I saw the listings on motorsports reg. But apparently they've closed down events again so IDK what shenanigans are going on.

Thank you, very informative.
Answers exactly what I need to know when it comes to choosing top mounts.
Increasing caster would move the wheel further forward and make it rub even more in that location.
So Verus it is for me as well, combined with HKS HAS kit.

Unless the person on ebay in Australia responds that is selling a used KW V3 Clubsport kit with EDC cancel kit for a good price.
Might make them a silly offer to wake them up as they have ignored my messages so far.

As I will be on OEM 19x10 +40s it sounds like I will be aiming for a 10 to 13mm spacer for the front as well. Rear I know has heaps of room to play with.

I think more caster would increase clearance to the front bumper but decrease clearance to the rear quarter panel/liner. The rubbing I found primarily occurs when the inside wheel is compressed, like going over a curb. This shouldn't be an issue with natural cornering at a track where the inside wheel is unloaded.

If you can I'd get the KW V3. I've heard mixed reviews on KW in general but I'd imagine they're still better than the HKS HAS. I'm overall happy with the HKS setup since it was relatively cheap but you can tell it's not the best matched to the stock shock damping. On comfort mode it does oscillate ever so slightly more than I'd like. It's not terrible and doesn't happen all the time but enough that you notice it. Again it's pretty well suited to sport mode and I never had a moment on track that felt bad, but in general the spring rates are still too soft for serious track work. The car still rolls way too much. Or maybe I'm just used a super stiff S2000 setup.

I am actually picking some parts up today.
Unbelievably, someone local listed a set of H&R Springs that still have the front springs fitted to low mileage OEM shocks with Millway camber plates for less than it would cost me just to buy camber plates. Straight up bolt in replacement this way so less hassle for me as well.

I am actually very serious about track work so KW V3 Clubsports would be awesome with their 2 way damper adjustment, pillow ball top mounts etc. Just not willing to pay the new high price for them ($6500 AUD with EDC cancel kit) so hopefully one day this guy on ebay pays attention.... I already made a silly $1000 AUD offer to try and wake the guy up which got auto rejected and worked out how to send my phone number cryptically so ebay doesn't delete the message.

The Supra will be running in our State Supersprint Series (Time Trials? Not sure what you guys call them)

I am coming from some very stiffly set up cars as well.
Have tracked many cars over the last 17 years, some of which you would never had access to in the US market.
I tend to run the car near stock for the first year or two if I bought it that way with just suspension tweaks to make tyres work and slowly add bits and pieces.
Still will have my 2019 MX-5 30th Anniversary running on 11/4.5 kg coilover setup. Will be running it in conjunction with the Supra, in two different series.
My stock 2014 Renault Megane 3 RS 265 CUP is making room for the Supra. Only bought it as I needed to replace my GR Yaris I put into the wall at Bathurst last year and did not know I was getting the Supra.
Had 2x Toyota GR Yaris (2021 and 2023), which had 10/12 kg suspension setups in them.
Ran a stock 2022 BRZ 2.4L 10th Anniversary a few years ago with just camber bolts. Ran it for 9 months and moved it on before the fantastic rubbish engine had a chance of letting go.
Ran a 2009 MX-5 NC-2 with some 11/6kg coilovers and a few other bolts ons. Probably the best handling car of all the car I have had.
Ran a 2012 Renault Clio 3 RS 200 A&D. Probably the best FWD light hatch ever made, bar the missing factory LSD to protect the bigger Megane.
Had a 2004 MX-5 SE (Mazdaspeed Miata) before that was heavily modified that it was basically a race car without aero (forged engine, big garrett, mounts, diff, bracing, rollbars, all comforts removed etc) and ran very stiff with 14/7 kg springs. I bought it like this and just tweaked it.
Also had a more tame 2004 MSM for 10 years that had basic boltons over the years with a 7/6kg setup.
Also ran a completely stock 2007 NC1 MX-5 and 2016 stock ND MX-5 as well as our MX-5 class had a total stock class. Free to change brake pads and tyres, in original size with tyre restrictions and that's it.
Plus have raced in 2x300km enduros and a couple MX-5 cup races in some elses(always race some elses :)) race prepped MX-5 NC 2.5L on E85 ITB's etc.

Does the HKS HAS kit give more inboard clearance than the OEM setup? I've been scratching my head trying to figure out how to shove 11's up front but pretty much everything I've read says 10.7 is max. But then I thought that the HAS used the same diameter springs and perch, just with an adjustable sleeve... and if it's the same inboard clearance, then maybe 11's up front aren't impossible after all? Inquiring minds and fat wheel addicts want to know!

Brian,

the HKS kit isn’t legal in S2. I asked Because I was going to do the same. The happy limit remains 275 on something narrower than an 11 up front.

If it were legal I’d be running it and using much wider wheels.

HKS HAS uses a narrower spring perch. I don't have the wheels off right now to measure but the top of the springs are the same diameter of oem and it tapers down to ~70mm? similar to a typical coilover spring. The HKS sleeve completely replaces the oem perch which was some trouble to remove for me. Some other sleeve kits like the MSS kit use the oem spring perch; looks like it just sits on top of the oem perch.

Apex has a good write up on different setups with pics of inboard clearance.

Though some of the image links seem to unfortunately be broken right now.... at least on my end.
