6MT compared to BMW manuals?

Curious to see if it solves the problem for you as the CDV delete pretty much nothing for me. The only thing that improves it slightly is turning rev matching off.



Not for me, it didn't.
CDV delete did nothing for me on my F87, either.

Thanks for everyone’s feedback. Sounds like it will probably feel the same and need the same mods to feel better.

Happy to report back after installing everything. CDV Delete wasn't a world changing difference but definitely made the 1-2 shift a bit better/clutch feels more like what I'm used to now.

AutoSolutions Short shifter with the Rogue Engineering Rear Carrier bushing, and the Rapid designs diff brace made a huge difference though.

Rear end feels much more planted now under power, and the shift feel has improved massively, no more BMW rubbery-ness feeling. It's now just a tight, clean shift action. Shift effort has increased, I may opt for a slightly heavier knob down the line to offset that a bit, but it's much better than it was stock.

NVH has increased a bit, there's definitely a bit more gear whine/transmission noise in the cabin now. However if you drive with the windows down or listen to music at any volume above a whisper, the NVH increase isn't noticeable.

What if the CDV delete did absolutely nothing and just bleeding the hydraulic fluid is what made that small difference?

Shhh, you can't use logic like that when there's a bandwagon moving at full speed. I know I've tried the logic and engineering argument and the bandwagon ran me over:cry:

I like their pedal a lot, I'm not sure if I noticed a throw change, though the link locations are slightly different and there likely was one. I definitely noticed a change to the pedal placement, more in line with the brake, which was huge for me as it was what I was used to coming out of a 135i for 13 years. That muscle memory of where it was located was hard to change on my Z4. For you it might depend on what you drove before, if anything.

You might be right. But until someone does instrumented testing we won't know.

What if BMW put it there for a purpose, and it actually does something, since they tend to over-engineer stuff and are unlikely to do it for shits and giggles? Without having instrumented testing would you not agree that, even if it doesn't do what some of us think, that it must actually do something, whatever it might be?

I've had the CDV removed from my Supra but I have no doubt it does.. something. Car manufacturer's tend to save money by removing things, not including them for no reason. I suspect its just a protection mechanism for the freshly minted i CaN dRiVE a MaNuAL crowd.. who in fact have no fucking idea how to actually drive a manual.

As an aside, my Type R has a CDV in it and it has never bothered me. My clutch has lasted `17 years and nearly 250,000km, so who knows?

I've gotten into it elsewhere, and admit it could be placebo, but I feel like removing the CDV eliminated the sense of it slipping just a little. Instead of my foot controlling how quickly I let out the clutch, and requiring me to make that be smooth with the gas and etc., there was a sense of a little slippage going on too. It could be because I agree if it does something it's the newbs who might wreck their car learning, and so I perceive that it should create some slippage and that's why I (convinced myself to) feel it.

You guys still using the Auto Rev function? I still have the CDV and I feel turning it off helped out a bit. I went back and forth a few times to feel the difference. I still plan on removing the CDV however.
