Made a quick video.

Things to note:

- The Au model does not have the GPF
- The exhaust hardware is the same as the US models - not the EU models (see pic)
- Exhaust flap is always open - except cold start
- Cold ambient temperature gives the really loud cracks and bangs - otherwise it's like the vid (which was shot in about 30 degrees celcius)

Is it loud? Unsure. I haven't had a standard exhaust car in 15 years, so seems pretty quiet to me.

If someone in the US could get a part number off the rear muffler, that'd be awesome... just trying to confirm what is what!

I think any differences between those video could be in recording equipment. I shot mine on my 5 year old phone haha.

I have noticed the crackles are much louder when it's cold - but I am not too concerned about crackles (they're a bit childish anyway) but the main exhaust volume difference is what I am trying to deduce.

Here's the AU rear muffler part number

Can someone in the US please snap a picture of theirs? It's very easy to access, just near the LHS rear inlet/outlet. No need to raise the vehicle from the floor.

Doesn't sound like the US Supra version.
Just took my A90 to get fuel in 15 degree cold weather.

Honestly- the level of crackles and tone sounds no different to this video - and wildly different from Mark (WTFs) Au car. That one does seem more muted... but I have done nearly 1,600km and have noticed the car gets noisier as it runs in - especially in terms of induction noise.

They do not. GPF equipped cars have a pressure line that runs up close the the rear turbine housing, and attached to a sensor.

A quick look in the engine bay confirms the Au cars don't have this.

Similarly, the centre-section of the exhaust looks the same as the US model (nonGPF) rather than the EU model (GPF)

So it appears that the US does have a different rear muffler to the rest of the world.

So, it would appear the market configuration is as follows:

EU:
Rear muffler: 7 933 805 04
Centre section: (1) in below
V-band downpipe
GPF
"quiet"

AU:
Rear muffler: 7 933 805 04
Centre section: (2) in below
Ribbon Clamp downpipe
No GPF
"medium"

US:
Rear muffler: 9 425 817 03
Centre section: (2) in below
Ribbon Clamp downpipe
No GPF
"loud"

I wonder what Japan got?

does that mean a US spec downpipe would fit our Au model ? or are the mounting points different ?

I am not sure - given LHD vs RHD I wouldn't be confident buying a US one.

I can see many Aussies getting the US spec rear resonator.
The real question why the difference?
Probably due to our overzealous noise restrictions. "at least we tried"

I'd love to section both and see the difference...

I have discovered some more interesting facts. Assuming the Aus spec is the same as the JDM spec, this HKS exhaust development video states the internal structure of the muffler is different as well as the valve control compared to the US spec cars.
