Thanks for sharing! been waiting for this for a while.

What are your thoughts on adding a weighted shifter to this? I have heard the stock unit benefits from going to a 400g knob. What do you think about this?

Also how much would this part be? I am interested in getting one. and plan to do the CDV delete at the same time. Thanks!

The heavier knob helps but you don't need to go super heavy either. I run the Raceseng Nitro which is only 317g and I could tell the difference. For me, shifts from 2->3 were not smooth if trying to shift quickly and the knob alone helped me improve this. The rest of the shifts are smoother too but that 2->3 is what I really wanted to improve. However just doing the CDV delete is free if you can do it yourself and have a wood screw laying around so worth getting that done first to see if you really feel the need to replace the knob.

All AutoSolutions kits are designed with the stock knob weight factored in.

Adding weight feels like it's working with you on a stock setup but in this case, it would make the shifts have more effort, so not worth it.

I've hit the 500 miles on the kit and am due to record a broken in video so that's next.

It's broken in beautifully. Reminiscent of a stock Porsche GT shifter without the weight.

I drove my friend's 718 GT4 back to back with my car to confirm this. Actually the Supra has shorter throws and the throws are lighter which surprised me.

Cost wise, that entirely depends on Ron, I have no idea what he's charging for these kits as they are made to order.

For him to even build this out for me, took months of asking and he agreed to build 6 kits to justify a jig. If there is significant interest here and on Facebook, I can ask for a GB.

Well with my engineering hat on all it appears to be is a shifter with stiffer mount bushes and "possibly" a better/more rigid shift arm bush but I wouldn't bet on that. Probably the biggest difference is in the shift lever inner to outer rubber interface. Usually these shifters have a shift post out of the shifter assy and a separate outer sleeve (the part the shift knob attaches to). Between the two is bonded rubber to isolate vibration and noise. I'm betting if you removed the OEM unit and disassembled the shift rod from the outer sleeve the knob attaches to, cleaned off the original bonded rubber and re attached it with a stiffer material with greater shore rating it would feel the same at a tiny fraction of the cost. I've done this mod myself on another shifter assembly and it works. In my case I also shortened the shift sleeve as well for a shorter shifter and reduced travel. You can buy the Nolathane in a 2 part mixable liquid at any shore spec you want and do it yourself for the " do it at homers" at a fraction of the cost.

The shift lever is shorter, bent differently, is made of a different alloy, has no rubber, uses poly shifter bushings, uses a bearing instead of a plastic shifter coupler that BMW uses and is adjustable.

It's not that simple.

But the stock throw length is fine, lol. ?ā€ā™‚

It's adjustable for shift throw length. I'm running it closest to stock throw length.

I do agree, stock throws are perfect. Stock rubber, eww.

Was wondering after the exhaust is taken off, about how much more time is needed for installation?

I looked at the video, and after the exhaust was off, it looks like the rest of the install couldn’t have been more than an hour?

Takes about an hour or so after the exhaust is removed yes.

Hey all, I have sold my car to a forum member here so she's in good hands.

I won't be frequenting the forum much anymore but if anyone needs this SSK, I would recommend reaching out to Ron at AutoSolutions to see what his timeline looks like.

I bought Sharock's A91 (He was awesome). The shifter is GREAT (although I've never felt the stock, so what do I know?). If anyone is in Albuquerque and wants to try it, please feel free to DM me.

Now if only we could decrease the rev-hang in this car. It feels more pronounced than other manuals I've driven. Other than that, I absolutely love this car.

Hey digging up an old thread but I just got installed in my ā€˜24 the same autosolutions shifter and wow what a difference it makes! I told Ronald who runs and makes the shifter at AS that I wanted the same specs as user shamrocks albeit just slightly more traffic heavy/daily driver focused so slightly lesser reduction set from his 25% to 22.5%. Had it installed at a very reputable shop in NoVa. Don’t have a huge amount of time or miles on the car with it yet but hoping to change that soon. Just wanted to say it’s worth it if you desire an upgraded shifter since there really isn’t any other alternatives.
