Hi
Anyone running awe touring non resonated with catted downpipe? Do you hear the turbo more from the exhaust then the resonated. I heard clips and it sounds good . Hard to tell from clips but in person is it deep as well.

I have the resonated version with ams catted downpipe and its nice but after hearing the non res on clips it has a nice turbo whistle which sounds nice. I’m thinking of ordering the non res but My concern how much louder is it from the resonated.

I started with the AWE non-resonated touring on a stock DP and the sound was perfect. I then replaced the DP with a 200CPSI sportscat and with the non-resonated pipes it sounded awful. It was louder but a little drony and very raspy - no longer was the note deep and borderline exotic. To be honest, it made the car sound like pretty much every other Supra with an after market exhaust.

I then replaced the non-resonated pipes with resonated ones and the sound was back to perfect. I think that AWE's recommends are 100% correct and sonically, both sound pretty much identical when paired correctly.. maybe the aftermarket DP with resonated pipes is a touch louder, but the tone is the same.

Stock DP + Non-resonated = perfection.
Aftermarket DP + Resonated pipes = perfection.
Any other combination = nope.

Also, I haven't had any change in turbo noise, but I'm running the stock intake which is probably a factor.

PS: While I am all the way in Australia, I have my non-resonated pipes for sale if you want to work out shipping. šŸ˜…

Thanks! Was your downpipe catless?

No. It was a 200cpsi but funnily enough, I'm swapping it out for a catless one tomorrow.
Nice! I found this clip on youtube

On 5:57 ams catted and awe non resonated .
Thats the same downpipe I’m running which is the ams catted. Does yours sound like that?
I also have the aramspeed intake

I've watched that video before and while it is great, I don't think its particularly representative of what the cars actually sound like in person. The closest to my sportscat/resonated setup would be at 19:57.. but it sounds much better in person. Again, I don't think the sound is captured well.

It's not a great video but this is what the car sounded like with the stock DP and the non-resonated AWE touring exhaust fitted:

I don't have any videos of it with the sportscat/resonated pipes but with the tune, it burbles and crackles a lot more but maintains the throaty deep tone. Most notably, if I let off the gas after a hard pull in second, instead of an occasional gunshot, it sounds like a machine gun, lol. If I get a chance I'll record the catless/resonated setup on the weekend.

I posted a bunch of clips if you search. Even did a comparison against Borla.

on a catted DP I would pick the non-res mid pipes. Louder. More mid range. Sounded amazing. Let me know if you want, mine are for sale!

I do agree that a resonated with aftermarket DP is a perfect balance.
Non-res is louder if thats what you want.

I did think I saw your videos comparison . Ams catted dp is very similar to the AA dp
I did like the non res with the AA dp. Clip . Did you hear the turbo more from the exhasut? I notice that on your clips. How deep was it compared to the resonated? Why are you selling your non res?

MY23 MT with Awe Touring (resonated) with aftermarket 200CSPI down-pipe; stock intake with K&N filter; MHD OTS Stage 2 98 RON tune and burbles activated.

Just as an aside, I think it sounds much better on the move and in person, like most exhausts.
